Why could I see Keon coming down with a Hail Mary catch some day ? He just seems like the kind of guy to do it...Loving those stats of his...He seems to be coming on....

Man, I remember watching that Richardson in college and liking him...I was interested too in keeping an eye on him and the Colts
..I have no interest anymore lol

The problem with the one from the Jets game is there was still 8 seconds left when the ball was snapped. The Bills had to use a guy on each sideline too to stop the 15-20 yard sideline out pattern

Which is the crazier part: the previous play was that exact situation, the Bears didn't guard the out, they let the Commanders get the extra 15 yards, and then gave up the Hail Mary.

yeah, ours was still the first half too, so the FG would have been meaningful (and I guarantee the coaching would have been flambeed on here if they gave it up lol)

WTF were those O-linemen doing? They never moved once the ball was snapped. Nabers is down before they're like "Oh, we should move".
On replay, the O-linemen were probably waiting for the pass to get thrown so they don't get called for illegal man downfield, but the RB who was supposed to block the edge was checking his alignment with the ref and not looking when the snap was taken, which allowed the defender to get the jump and not be blocked.

Maybe Jones just took the snap too soon?

Are Schoen and Daboll both going to get shit canned? The worst thing that happened to them was making the playoffs in a fluke season 2 years ago which forced them to re-sign Jones instead of finding their long term QB.
And the Bills were in the same position and they traded their QB that got them into the playoffs. They should have known better.

plus-136: That's how many receiving yards over expectation Bills rookie wideout Keon Coleman has this season, per NFL Next Gen Stats. It's the fifth most for any pass catcher in 2024.

Let's pull a random rookie wide receiver to compare. Oh, I don't know, how about ... Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy, who was drafted by the Chiefs after they traded up in the first round to get him. Of course, the team that traded back was the Bills, and everyone was very frustrated that the Bills would let the Chiefs jump up in the draft to get the 40-yard dash record holder. But Worthy has minus-134 receiving yards over expectation this season, which is second worst in the league.

Remember: Speed threats are cool, but complete receivers are way cooler. The Bills drafted a three-level player who can create before and after the catch and win through contact. The Chiefs drafted yet another gadget receiver who can't yet handle a full menu of routes and alignments.

This by no means a must win game. But it’s nice to win your home division games, and this will effectively take Miami out of the division race. So it’s a big game in a sense

Waiting on the dentist so I did some mock draft and off-season thinking:

Free agency for the Bills should be interesting. What does Beane do with Miller and Milano? Does he re-sign Douglas and Cooper?

From just a cursory look at free agency, I think Cooper will need to take a team friendly deal, as he’ll be in demand. I think he’ll be the third best receiver available after Higgins and Godwin.

Douglas might be easier to re-sign but the free agency field is loaded so it might be better to look for a cheaper and younger option.

A free agent I really like is Alim McNeill. I loved him during his draft year and he’s only gotten better. 25 years old, and he’s a stocky NT type. He’s full a huge need on the interior of the defense, with Jones on his last year.

Haason Reddick might be a somewhat buy by low player. His Jets time probably lowers his stock, but if Beane takes a swing and McDermott checks off on character, he could be a steal.

Marquise Brown might be another buy lower player after coming off an injury season. He’s got the speed Buffalo could use.

Does Beane take a swing at mercurial Chase Young?

As for the draft, there’s a bunch of players I like. Jack Sawyer is at the top of that list, but he’s almost strictly a LE. Rousseau is best at LE so I don’t think that’s a good fit.

I also really like Dontay Corleone. He’s one of the few NTs in the draft and has first round talent.

I think Landon Jackson from Arkansas is going to be really good. He’s big like Rousseau and plays RE. He reminds me a lot of Maxx Crosby. His burst is way better than I thought after watching him. He’s exactly the type of DE Beane goes for.

Four linemen I like, who will be available for the Bills are Wyatt Milum, Jonah Monheim, and Bryce Foster…. and I love Emery Jones from LSU but he would have to transition from RT to LT, and I think he’s way underrated right now. Milum is a LT, and Monheim and Foster are IOL. All three are going to have high RAS.

Some other players I like:
J Michael Sturdivant, WR UCLA
Rod Moore, S Michigan
Raheem Sanders, RB South Carolina
Nazir Stackhouse, DT Georgia
Tony Grimes, CB UNLV

Regarding Miller and Milano, I think Miller will almost certainly be cut given the major cap savings (8 million in 2025, 20+ million every year after that). You just can't carry a rotational pass rusher for a 20+ million cap hit, even if he's productive. Milano is also easy. Cutting him would actually cost money, so they likely just ride it out. If anything, I could see them doing a team friendly extension to lower the cap hit but give him more security, but I don't think they should.

I really don't think they should extent Douglas. He's been lights out for us, but paying market rate for a corners 30+ seasons is asking for trouble. Maybe I'd get on board with transition tagging him for 17 million. But letting him walk is likely the best option.

Similarly, I doubt Cooper makes sense. As you point out, he'll probably be able to demand 20+ million on a long term extension, and he should go get it. Unless you're getting a top 5 talent like Lamb, Jefferson, etc., I'm more and more becoming of the belief you should just draft a receiver every year and never pay one.

I would be shocked if Beane cut Milano pre-6/1 given that his deal would be under water and it would be more costly to cut him than to keep him.

And the $11M in 2026 dead cap for a post-6/1 cut might mean that is off the table, as well.

Miller is an interesting one. I won't be surprised if they keep him if he looks good the rest of the season. And I won't be surprised if they cut him and save the over $8M against the 2025 cap.
