Well, you lost me here. What’s “disgusting” about removing someone like Alex Jones? These companies have no obligation to allow him to spread his garbage on their platform.

The way it was done. A coordinated hit. Shows how they're all pretty much the same shit with a different name.

It's pretty much one collective of the most powerful companies.

I don't want to run us off the rails here, but ask yourself why someone like Farrakhan hasn't been banned. Is there really such a thing as "hate" speech? Speech is speech, and sometimes it is better to let lunatics rave on so others understand just how mad they are, and understand there are people that are on the fringe.

I think the objection some have to social media platforms is that they are a wolf in sheep's clothing. They aren't there to give "everyone" a platform, they are there to collect as much information as possible on the people who use them and then sell that information as often as possible for as much money as possible.

How much would a Facebook subscription/membership cost the consumer if they accepted no advertising revenue at all?

I ask the same question regarding anything/everything on all/any medium - cable tv/satellite tv/ internet access / all television via internet / newspapers / magazines / whatever else is out there.

My overall thinking has to do with:
1. If capitalism (regulated or unregulated) is so great why can't/don't we just buy what we want when we want it?
2. What about the model utilities use or would want to use? Honestly, I don't know exactly how this system works in the first place. (heavily regulated "private" companies???)
3. Is there a socialist based example? Or are we really "socialism" for the rich and "capitalism" for the rest of us?
4. At what "size" can a company be before capitalism becomes contradictory to the rights, needs and wants of the individual? Same thing regarding government.

Capitalism in its purest is very just. The problem here is bribery. Bribery is what allows huge corporations like Amazon to get a 3 f***ing billion dollar tax incentive to build HQ2 in NY. That's f***ing bullshit right there and unfair to other companies.

2nd, socialism is very dangerous, once you give up your freedoms you play with fire. The more power the individual has the more the govt is on their heels.

3rd. When the banks and car companies got bailed out I was furious, that's not right.

4th. Unions and regulations are hard on small businesses.

5th. Borderline monopolies get huge breaks from the Govt because they are the one who pay politicians.

6. There is no Democrats vs Republicans, they are parties who have investors who they need to appease for their pockets to get filled up. Democrats have unions filling their pockets among many other things, Republicans have their own investors.

The person who loses in here is YOU.
Politicians don't care about you.

People who want socialism don't understand the dangers that come with it. My parents are from the USSR and they say it has its perks but too high of a cost.

Capitalism is awesome, heavy regulation on small businesses which leads to monopolies is evil. Just like bribery is evil.

Let's bring it back to Disney/Fox Sports and closely related evils rather than politicking or discussing the grander implications of media conglomerate mergers.

Yeah, sorry for my tangent of rambling questions and comments.
Kings + tv + quality product + fair price = happy fans.

I didn't mind. I think there are macro issues which affect these decisions. It seems the day of the corporate conglomerate is coming to and end in some cases. Companies like GE for example have really lost their focus and are going to have to spin off businesses to create value for their shareholders. Jack Welch must really be pissed these days.

I think it's going to happen in the sports entertainment industry as well. The consumer is becoming much more meticulous in what they are willing to pay for when it comes to viewing sports. Why do you want ESPN and all of the extra programming it offers when you can get only the programming you are interested in for half the price?

This part of the conversation is totally fine. I was concerned about the veering off track into political affiliations
