Just went back to trying to play H2H online again in NHL 19. Forgot how horrendous this game is. I can't believe they haven't fixed the auto trip when poke checking.

Sure, you want to eliminate poke check spammers, that's cool. That doesn't mean making it a trip almost every time. And ironically, they over powered the stick lift instead which is hysterical because that causes way more penalties in real life (hooking, slashing, high sticking).

This should have been an easy fix post launch...and they've left it untouched even though it's obviously broken. All guys do in H2H is bump into each other, puck rattles around between the two players, and then it's luck who comes away with the puck. How anyone can think this is even tolerable gameplay is beyond me.

Bottom line: This game will continue to be trash because Rammer is trash. I expect the same unplayable H2H game in 2020.

The H2H is so so bad.

EASHL is the only reason I will buy 20.

I bought an NBA game for the first time in years since 2k19 was on sale for $3.

The features and what you can do absolutely destroys the NHL series. Holy crap.

#MeToo

Imagine that fact that you can simply delete players in the game with the simple push of a button (for retired players or guys not playing anymore), you can quickly change attributes unlike the NHL where it takes forever to do even a single players.

You can control all the teams.

You can share rosters and draft classes.

Expansion.

Team ratings actually mean something when playing or swimming a season.

They have real coaches.

The menus don’t lag.

I can download as many rosters as I want, or have the ability to delete rosters.

Thomas Jurco isn’t a FA and also on the Panthers.

Some kid with cancer isn’t in the game with a 99 rating......except for durability (which seems quite insulting)

The developers actually listen to the customer base.

Player customization doesn’t suck.

Player ratings are actually weighed for what fookin position they play or what type of player they are.

When starting a franchise 2k doesn’t dump a bunch of players/rookies to the FA list.

Guys in the G League aren’t rated highly compared to the numerous bums in the AHL that are rated higher than a lot of guys in the NHL even though they haven’t played in the league in years and have no hope of ever making it back.

I could keep going....

I havent bought a game in years so i'm not even sure what leagues they have anymore in the game but will Kakko who played in the Liiga league last year and Kravtsov who played in the KHL last year be in the game with their names? Or do I have to still wait for the silly rule where they have to play an NHL game first?

Strange, I haven’t had this issue, you’re probably just having a tough time timing your pokes which isn’t the games fault.

Once again NO EASHL PRACTICE

Does EA even listen to what people ask for? Signature shots 3 new outdoor rinks oooh that’s what people wanted. Get rid of HUT and bring back online be a GM. Give us practice mode for EASHL.

Why so teams can figure out the best cheese plays and practice them?

EASHL practice mode is the last thing they should be focusing on lol Wanna build chemistry? Just play games. Or play against the CPU in the pro am.

If this was a development team that did a decent amount of additions, that’d be fine, but to them that’s a massive addition.

Shooting animations is far more important.

The ones rinks I can do without.

Totally bruh. 19-2-2 H2H. Teach me how to play.

Game is garbage.
Poke check definitely isn't an issue and I hope this carries over to NHL 20.

In all likelihood, like most people who probably cheesed the hell out of poke check, you just found new ways to cheese the game. Spam stick lift, finding ways to back into the zone ass first because there's no way to angle any defensive maneuvers against that, pick the higher rated teams/players so those RNG puck battles go your way (and you walk away thinking how "skilled" you are ), etc. It'd probably take 5 minutes of playing against you to pick out a dozen cheesy little things you do to get an edge. Things most reasonable players only really do if they're down a few goals and desperate, but you probably do all game.

Frankly, if someone's W/L ratio is that lopsided, I have zero faith that they're playing the game straight. The game is garbage because of little snots that make the game garbage.

I don't understand how these people can reason that if some people are good at the game, then it can't possibly be garbage.

You have to learn how to poke check without going through a guys legs. It's very simple once you know how to do it. Game was more garbage when everyone was spamming poke check willy nilly.

They literally have practice mode already in the game. It's clearly a want to issue with the development team.

Disclaimer: I only play EASHL/drop-in. I agree about the poke, but EA leadership (trying not to blame devs here) mitigated this by overpowering stick-lift. It's a shame because with the new control over your defensive stick, defending using positioning and holding your stick in the lane is entirely possible. Whoever is running the show, unfortunately, is tuning to make a sim (low puck control, high penalty rate) and an arcade game (easy stick lifts, forgiving puck control) and it doesn't work.

Frankly, if someone's W/L ratio is that lopsided, I have zero faith that they're playing the game straight. The game is garbage because of little snots that make the game garbage.
This is the philosophical problem with all of us and sports games, though, yeah? We all want something different. I derive ZERO fun from scoring cut-to-middle-short-side-shelf goals. I don't understand people who play this game for 10 years and still have fun doing easy things that don't look and feel interesting (cool stuff: saucer-heavy passing plays, tip-goals, using the point). But a lot of people don't agree and just want to win, so why would EA tune to me?

Here’s the thing, they took care of the poke check spams last generation in a way that very few people had a problem with ... when you made it poke check, it slowed down your player, so if you spammed and missed, the opposing player would just skate around you.

I stopped playing at 36-12-2 (or something like that) because:
- 500-level players take penalties all game long because of the poke check and, because the penalties are processed in real time, it takes forever to complete a game if they don’t quit
- 600-, 700-level players know that you’re not going to attempt a poke on them, so they just do circles in the offensive zone waiting for the AI to mess up or for you to pressure them to open something up. Another equally goddamn boring way to play.

The last game I played, the dude legit had 4 shots on net in a 2-0 shutout for me (and, naturally, called me a glitcher after the game; glitching my way to the lowest shooting % on my area of the leaderboard). I was done after that. It’s not fun.

How about rewarding players who play the right way? People who cycle, people who get tip shots people who crash the net and not the guy that skates full speed up the ice and glides right and shoots back against the grain glitch

I can’t tell you how many tips from the high slot that don’t go in

After playing NBA 2K19, I feel ashamed that I paid for NHL 19, even though I got it on sale for $19.99. NHL has probably HALF the features NBA has, it's actually embarrassing to say the least.

I know this year will be no different. They'll introduce a few gimmicks like "new skating" and throw in a couple of tweaks to GM mode, but it'll more of less be a copy of NHL 19 with Auston Matthews on the cover.

I hope people understand that they're getting laughed at by EA Sports for buying this garbage year after year.

NHL 19 was the bane of my gaming existence (I sold it for 5 bucks almost a year ago, couldn't charge someone more than that for this crappy game)

enjoyed HUT (never spent a dime on it and never will) but getting paired up with a 99 overall team when I was lucky to be an 80 overall was a bit of overkill...not to mention playing the "best" usually involved 9-1 glitch goal games where I could shut off one glitch but they'd use another closer to my A.I players who had no idea how to stop it. Easily the most frustrating thing in the world...watching someone who you know you would absolutely demolish if it wasnt for the damn glitches (up the wing cut to center shoot against the grain) (one timer from the point, through players even) especially if you're like me and straight refuse to use the glitches (occasionally I will get fed up and do it once just to make a point)
then you get up into the "top players" and its stick check spamming and glitch goal bonanza...did anyone happen to see the World Championships for NHL...it was freaking pathetic...a bunch of people trying to out glitch each other

This video made me depressed.

I'd love to see 2K make a return in the NHL gaming world. 2K's graphics engine has grown so much, that everything would look better if they were to release, and the goalies and players are so much better in their movements than what EA produces today, and this game is a decade old.

Also, their cup "presentation" allows you to skate around with the cup and actually enjoy it, while EA is a quick 20 second clip

A few insignificant, easy changes I'd like to see made to make Franchise mode a little more wholesome:

-Allow me to see an entire history of each individual/team award, not just the last five years. My buddy and I sim through 25-year franchises and would like to keep tabs on this stuff.

-Likewise, include "Team" on the full career stats for individual players. I'd like to know what team players played for when they had monster years.
