Pre-Game Talk: Discuss the game that may or may not be watched

Steen-Backes-Oshie need to play better. And I absolutely think they can. As a group they are finally somewhat healthy. They have been their typical selves defensively, but need to be more dangerous offensively. I have no doubts about Schwartz or Frank showing up for this game, those boys are winners. And Miller needs to be the first or second star of the game, we need a wow performance.

If the Blues win game 6, then eventually game 7, nobody will stop them in the West. I actually think they are going to win tomorrow.

What is the point of dialogue like this? Is it so you can say I told you so after the fact? If you have been a Blues fan for long enough, you have been conditioned for disappointment like this, or at least the potential of unexpected disappointment. What is the point of pre-cursing their failure?

I understand if it is difficult to muster optimism at this point, but unless you plan on never watching the team again why not see this through to the end? I will be as upset as every other Blues fan if they can't win the next two, but I know very well that I will be ready to believe that they can win again next year after a few months to cool off. Just as I have for the last 26 years.

As far as I'm concerned it is impossible for me to just walk away from the team that I grew up watching and cheering for. Truth is that we are closer now than we have been in my lifetime, if I were to give up now and they managed to pull off a miracle I would feel pretty stupid for writing them off. Maybe not this year, but certainly one of these years we will see this team win it all. And it will be sweeter for us Blues fan than it is for most. Sorry for the novel.

LET'S GO BLUES!!!!!

If we had a rep system, you'd be getting it from me for this post, along with a comment of praise my daug! LETS GO BLUES!!

As much as I don't necessarily think they'll win tomorrow (though man have I never wanted to be wrong so badly in my life) a little part of me thinks if they win this series, this'll be the year.

There is lots of precedent that good teams have had difficulty in the first few rounds, but hung on and won, and them went all the way.

Chicago's two recent CUp wins are examples of that.

Different teams and different situations but looking at the Kings/Sharks game is something that the Blues can strive for.

Kings come into San Jose facing elimination and (as of this post) are dominating and leading 3-0. This is the same Kings team that lost 7-2 in game 2.

This should show that nothing is impossible no matter how bleak it looks.

I want this series to be decided by a winner take all game seven. It just won't feel right for such a close series to be cut short.

Sure would live to see Miller play like that Flyers game.

If the refs are a noticeable part of the game, that probably bodes poorly for the Blues.

I kept thinking about how disappointing things have been with injuries, Backes and Oshie being knocked out by illegal hits. It just doesn't seem fair. But then I realized that it's not over. The Blues can write a legendary story about coming back to finish the series in the face of that adversity. No team wins a Cup without a great story. The Blues story is there to be written. Will they wilt? Or will they show the stature of champions and find a way to get this thing back home for game seven?

"Tell me we will die like dogs."

You will die like dogs.

NO! WE WILL FIGHT LIKE LIONS!

It was the late great Col. Sanders himself that said "I'm to drunk too taste this chicken."

Here here :handclap:

I have no idea who is going to win tomorrow. Every game this series could have gone either way and I don't think tomorrow will be any different. I honestly put our chances at 50/50. All I know for sure is that I will be glued to my couch with my focus squarely on my TV.

This has been a roller coaster month and I'm sure tomorrow will be unbearably stressful until the final horn. It may shave a few years off my life, but that is playoff hockey. I love it and wouldn't have it any other way. Blues and Hawks with the season on the line. Doesn't get any better than that.

Let's Go Blues!

I don't know if this has been shared already, but how creepy is this? Hopefully game 6 breaks this trend!

it is pretty weird, but i can't believe someone hasn't tried to construct similar coincidences with another team in past years... wait... that is what i am doing now, to see if it can be done:naughty:

I seriously hope we don't break up the Schwartz-Sobotka-Tarasenko line. We've been leaning on that group all series, so I hope Hitch continues rolling them.

Hopefully Oshie's game 5 success continues into game 6 because he was having a rough series and Steen is having to do a lot on that line. Berglund and Shattenkirk need to step it up as well.

I don't think anyone expects our top line to be better than Kane-Toews-Hossa but they need to at least try and keep them under control, especially since Steen and Backes are so heralded as defensive forwards. They are all -4 while Toews and Kane have 6 and 5 points in 5 games; they need to adjust if we're going to win this series. I think early on coach Q was balancing his big guns over his lines out of respect for our top line's defensive play, but now that it hasn't been there he's started loading up instead (and it's working).

Also, here's to hoping Hitch has dialed up something fresh for the PP unit. LGB!

If this team learned anything from last year they will win. I really hope this season don't end tomorrow.

Could argue if they learnt anything from last season we wouldn't be in this position. Saying that, they have shown resilience in coming from behind late in games so that in itself is encouraging. Just hope we aren't proving to be a hard team to beat but a team not capable of winning.

I was watching this game thinking the same thing, you can see why the Kings have had success lately showing real guts and refusing to go down, though personally I think they will in the end but still impressive. This is the kind of response I would like to see from the Blues, I don't doubt either their desire or effort to achieve this but do we have the ability to win when it matters? Please please alleviate my fears Blues.
