I don't think there's any urgency to get Brendan Smith in. He's been around the league for a long time and they know what he can bring. If somebody's hurt, he'll get his chances, but he's a 7D and knows it.

Jarvis is a rookie, and they don't really know what they have, and they know that for his development he needs some reps at NHL speed. They know they need to work him in.

Jarvis would be good for the Sunday game, when all the vets are probably looking ahead to trick-or-treating/partying.

Seth Jones is the ultimate example of someone who is good at things that are photogenic, but aren't actually helpful in winning hockey games. Kind of like Joe Corvo and his 1-on-5 rushes that looked great but would lead to him turning it over, ie no actual o-zone pressure.

So Seth Jones will have the puck in the d-zone, take the hit, battle on the boards for 20 seconds, "win", immediately turn it over and lead to chances against while Hamilton will skip all of that by avoiding the hit and outleting the puck to the forward in the neutral zone. In conclusion: Jones >>>> Hamilton because Jones will take the hit to make the play while Hamilton is a wuss who shies away from contact.
