Box score read 17,510 not 18,006. WTF? The Rangers sell-out streak ends this soon?
I can't imagine the Knicks will end soon, even teams like the Bruins and Canes sell out nightly.
What gives?

"even teams like the Bruins"... aren't the Bruins one of the best attended teams in the league? Seems weird, and almost insulting to them, that you'd refer to them this way.

Simplest explanation would be that both the Mets and Giants were playing as well so 500 people chose to do something around those games instead.
A more fun explanation is that 500 people decided to teach Lavi/Doaln/MSG a lesson for not playing Rempe by not turning up.
A more sinister explanation is that the foot clan has returned and the citizens of NYC don't feel safe to travel...

How long was the streak (I assume this is something that is tracked somewhere)? Does it include playoff games or do they get their own separate stats?

The equilibrium price is reached where demand and supply intersect. Translation: Dolan is charging too much for tickets. Microeconomics 101.

Ticket prices haven’t increased in two years, don’t think it’s Dolan that much. The issue is Ticketmaster and stub hub with the secondary fees. They take 10% from the seller and then up charge 20% on the listed price to the buyer. It’s absolutely criminal what they get away with. That monopoly is what hurting the ability to go to games for the everyday fans.

I was at the game, it felt pretty empty and quiet throughout the game. Though I would note that they were competing with the ALCS/NLCS games and the Jets MNF game, combined with the fact that its an early season non-rivalry game. After the Smith goal to make it 3-1, a bunch of folks in my section started streaming the Yankees game.

Pretty sure ticket prices increased last year. But yes, this is the first time they haven't increased them in quite a few seasons.

And totally agree with the crazy fees they get on resales. It's really only worth it to use TM and similar platforms on the most premium games. Otherwise, the FB route has been a big help for buyers and sellers.

They failed to sell out the game against Montréal last April.

17,854 fans in attendance.

The streak lasted 4 reg. season games.

Isn’t FTC Lina Kahn suing them?
If not, I hope she does.

I don't know if the OP is the same person but I remember when I first started watching the Rangers and there was a Rangers message board on their website there was a fan that was OBSESSED with the breakdown of Rangers and opposing fans at games at MSG. He's make a thread about it after every game. And my 14 year old ass couldn't figure out why he cared so much.

$ going towards ALCS NLCS + MSG prices = only so much money to go around. Don't really care. Make NHL net games available on the internet. That's the hill I'm climbing.

Well then let me ask, do the Knicks sell out every game or do they have a few empties?
And why is this a Rangers thing?
You have many teams who sell out nightly (Boston, Carolina), so I do not understand why NY does not. I know there is always the issue of 'fake sellouts' but that begs the question, why would MSG be different?

When? I am like 100% sure it was me, cannot believe 2008 was so long ago.

Miss those threads.

Have you seen the ticket prices? Nuff said.

A family of four will cost them close to 1K for a game, between the tickets, parking, and food.
That's just for nosebleed seats too. It'll be more than that if you want to be closer than the back rows.

Yep, unless I get free tickets through a work connection, I only pay to go to one game a year at this point. Sometimes zero.

Even with connections to tickets, it usually ends up being only one regular season game per year and maybe one playoff game if I get super lucky.

I make a decent wage, but I can book round trip tickets to Europe for the amount it costs for decent seats.

Was just going to say this. How many people are driving to Rangers games? I haven't done it once.
Depends on where you're coming from. It can be hard to get a train back to some areas of the suburbs in NJ/LI/Upstate at night when the game ends.

If you're coming in from far enough, parking can be nearly the same price as 4 LIRR, Metro North, or NJ Transit tickets, but far more convenient for getting home.

If you're reachable by subway or path, obviously I'm not talking about you. But when I lived in the burbs for a few months (it was horrible and I hated it) I could see driving to a game rather than waiting on a bus or train.

Makes sense. I'm lucky enough to have an LIRR station close to me and it's a quick enough and convenient commute to Penn Station.
