Did Refs Miss it?

Last night's hockey game - Panthers vs Maple Leafs. The puck was in the paint heading toward the Toronto goal when it was stopped by a Toronto player with a broken stick. As the play continued, the referees correctly ruled a goal but no penalty was called.
According to the rules, playing the puck with a broken stick is an "equipment" penalty and should be called regardless whether a goal was scored or not.
Did the referees miss this call?

Is there a new rule about a delayed penalty after a goal being awarded?

??????

Try reading the rulebook.

In the NHL, if the non-offending team scores a goal in a delayed penalty situation, then it is treated as if a goal was scored during that penalty. Thus, if the delayed penalty is a minor, the penalty is waved off.

Just a couple of hypotheticals. If the puck hadn’t crossed the line, should there have been a penalty for playing the puck with a broken stick and a penalty shot due to the defender putting his glove on the puck while in the crease? They probably discussed this on air, but the volume was muted on my TV at the time.

Penalty for playing the puck with a broken stick? Yes.

Penalty shot? No. If you watch the replay, his hand is on the ice behind the puck before the puck gets pushed towards his glove and both go over the line. He never COVERED the puck with his hand so no penalty.

As for this series as a whole, I'm not going to cry ref because both teams have had egregious calls and egregious misses. My issue at this point is where the hell is the line and can we please get an ounce of consistency.

Domi gets the weakest crosscheck I've ever seen as the series first penalty and then there are no calls for obvious hit to the head to Holmberg or Tavares.

Rodrigues gets called for embellishment on a boarding play and then no embellishment calls for guys whipping their heads back or diving on a slight tap to the leg.

The Rodrigues incident wss incredibly weird. It seems like they just decided it was going to be 4 on 4 and then gave penalties out at random to make it work... It might have made sense if Laughton got 2 for boarding + 2 for roughing and then Florida (Schmidt?) got 2 for instigating and 2 for roughing, but that's not what happened.

In addition, make-up penalties and game manament penalties are trash. If my team goes up 2 or 3-0 to start the game I'm expecting a weak penalty which is ridiculous and should never be the case for any team.

Edit: it seems like the refs this year have been calling a bunch of penalties when teams are making dumb decisions then as soon as there's been a few penalties they change their level to avoid over penalizing a team. The players need to adjust and stop taking undisciplined penalties, it should not be the refs adjusting to how the players are playing.

The awarded goal on that obviously nullified any penalty that might have been called.

It would be interesting to hear if there was a penalty identified on the ice prior to the review. I don’t think there was and, if so, they couldn’t call a 2 minute minor after the fact.

1) wrong.
2) if we wanna be petty and pedantic, that was a hell of an interference/dive combo at the end of regulation. Almost like the Panthers are dirty and the refs wanted to gift em a win. Yep, they “missed” that one.

Refs missed the entire game. The amount of shit Florida gets away with is insane. I get you can’t call everything, but all the picks, hacks, elbows after the puck left, jabs after whistles. It’s like every time you skate by them they hack you lol. Not complaining cause we’re winning and I genuinely think their style is benefitting the Leafs as much as the Panthers but wow, what a dirty pos team/coach. Best part is that when they play a clean physical game, they get dummied. Most of their players are trying to play above their weight class

Leafs are gooning it up vs the innocent cute little cats, it started with Domi's vicious McSorelyesque stick in game 1 and it has only gotten worse.

Exactly, I don’t think there was a delayed penalty called in the ice and the officials cannot retroactively award a powerplay during a video review for if a puck crossed the goal line.

Imagine thinking this when the leafs have had a PP advantage in all 3 games including a key no call in game one that directly preceded the eventual GWG and then doing it in a thread where replay had to save the refs from missing two penalties on the same sequence.

Ever considered that Toronto may have more power plays because Florida commits more penalties?

It should have been a minor penalty had the Panthers not scored yes. Would it have been?
