the success he's had building Edm into a defensive powerhouse over 70 games after a midseason start is unreal. Could very well win a cup.

The Rangers had this guy in their system, working with their young players, and had an opening at HC this year..

did they blow it?

No.

Edmonton's turnaround has nothing to do with him. It was coming no matter who they hired or if they made no change at all.

It feels like performing brain surgery blindfolded with a monkey wrench is just as difficult as figuring out NHL coaching. I mean, the Oilers brought on Paul Coffey, who has zero coaching experience, to be a part time asst coach. I’m not going to pretend there is any grand masterplan here. Hockey def has a certain element of randomness to is, and nothing quite highlights that more than coaching.

No way. Lavi did so much for this team- the only thing left is for him to do is lace up and play C with 20 and who-the-f they put there while a holding a steak between his teeth while scoring a goal.

Edmonton's success is mainly due to McDavid, Draisatl, hyman, bouchard, etc. If you suck for as long as they did, you are going to hit on your draft picks. Problem with the Rangers is they are always picking mid to late in each round.

If we had our current team and coaches plus McDavid or Leo this series would be over. We just do not have that #1 horse while they have two of them.

You could have really just stopped at McDavid and Draisatl. When you have the best player in the league and one of the best playoff performers of all time it makes up for a lot.

Ekholm is more impactful than Bouchard who is really just a McDavid merchant with a big shot. We should trade for someone like that to pair with Fox instead of strapping him with a guy who is a #6 D.

Lindgren wouldn’t be a #6D on my roller hockey team

100% they missed. I don’t recall Edmonton ever being able to perform this well as a team in the playoffs. Especially defensively. They have a garbage goalie on top of it to deal with.

while Lav has generally been good for us, I was for Knob from even before to the prior coaching change, based in part on his knowledge of our youth

Again, failure to listen to bern... not usually good

I like our coach, he's having the same issues as previous coaches and future coaches will have until the bromance ends and we do more than fill holes in the ship.

If Lav had Edmontons lineup I don't think there would be much difference

Swap McDavid for Mika. Now who is in the cup? NYR or Edm?
Plus Mika might have broken ribs

He needs to change lines and maybe bring in players

Need a coach that would bench and scratch top 6 players. Neither 1 is it.

People said this about Lav taking over the Rangers and honestly I don’t see much difference from what we saw two years ago against Tampa. Too much hypothetical for me, but I get why people feel that way. Edmonton has strong analytics even before Knob.

You must have a very good roller hockey team.

How's the weather in your delusional fantasy land?

I think this roster needed a coach who has earned and demands their respect. They tried the new guy approach with DQ and he was tuned out pretty quickly. I think the current staff is pretty great so far.

It will be pretty funny in a sad way if Knoblauch gets his name on the cup before the Rangers though.

No. We need to stop second-guessing coaches.

We fire far, far, far too many coaches before taking care of our real problems.
coach as part of the equation is
nice
a factor

but
we need to have mo better horses

In POs 5x5 even more a premium, need players who can dominate based on skill AND physical, and we have something there right now but not enuf

I f***ing love Bern hahahahaha.
tell it like it is
let your conscience be your guide

Knobs has a relationship with McDavid from juniors. He's not intimidated or star struck by him. Skinner became an actual NHL goalie again.

Dallas may very well come back but remember, they're very similar to the 2015 Rangers playing with gassed or injured D/losing the attrition battle.
