Did NHL.com make a good website change??

Maybe they got upset and said "f-them all, do your own research."

I hate it, also, I feel the same way with the giphy site so hard to use anything anymore after their changes.

Most important link for me (and maybe some others):

Spoiler-free (in regards of the results) game recaps.

Not possible on the NHL app though. When you hide the scores, you must be fast so no news are loaded. Once in the score screen, there are three dots where you can choose "Game recap". If you click on it, the recap is started - but the very first image for a second is the last frame of the video - including the final score. Seriously, what the hell.
you can get those without the fuss on don't tell me the score.

This is one of those things though it's not just hating change for the sake of change but they're pushing to far in the mobile/app direction that it just hasn't been a good experience on desktop. I haven't done an extensive overview of different sites but I spent a few minutes on nhl.com over pre-season and switched over to espn.com, which is about the only one I know that is still desktop friendly.

So what’s up with the new NHL.com? Is the app required to make it work properly or something?

I barely use it anymore to get info. I don't know how it's possible for a website of a major business to get consistently worse and less useful over a decade.

They changed the stats page again on the desktop version, making everything larger and more mobile-ish.

Individual goalie stats still don't have total goals against listed, but keep goals/assists/PIM.

Did they change the length of video for goals? They post a video each time somone scores in a game and it's usually 20-30 seconds and now it ends right after the goal is scored, kinda annoying as it's nice to get the replay and celebration included.

To answer the question in the title, yes quite likely.

That however will be remedied as soon as possible...

Why do they remove the bar from the top that contains all the matches' scores when you open one match's gamecenter? It's extremely easy to keep it there the whole time, and I cannot see what the benefit might possibly be. It used to be there.

And why not have a monthly view for a team's match history? Do they have any idea what a massive pain in the ass it is to go through matches week by week while trying to remember how many there were and what order they were in again, when in the past you saw all of it at once in the monthly calender view?

Have they ever used a website in their lives?

NHL.com has been trash for over 20 years.

The official app is the worst app I have downloaded. It was bad last year. It's unusable this year.

f*** the NHL and whatever talentless, out-of-touch agency they use for this bullshit. Basic UI/UX principles ignored. Make information fans actually want hard to find. If the teams at my company ever put out sites/apps/content like this, we'd all be out of work.

It's insane that such a huge company cannot afford to hire a UX specialist. It's literally the most important position for any app or website development team.

And if they have an actual UX specialist, then they should fire them, blacklist their university or wherever they got their degree from, and hire a proper one.

Tbh I am starting to think it's on purpose at this point. Funnel us to sportsnet or whoever is paying the NHL to broadcast their games.

I'll use yahoo instead of the NHL site now because the NHLs site somehow gets worse every year lol

No.

They seem to change it every season and it got so bad last time I don't even use it anymore
