You’re a bit over sensitive there. I said nothing close to “Canada got lucky”, nor did I make any excuses for the US losing. “My tone”, as you imply, is inferred entirely by you as you’re looking for insults to Canada hiding everywhere.
I merely said the narrative would be a lot different if Binnington doesn’t come up huge in OT. Sorry if that rustled your Maple Flakes.

All that out of Binnington making a few clutch saves :sarcasm:

All I’m saying is if Binnington lets Matthew’s or Tkachuk’s shot past him in OT that the “experience and maturity” narrative today is totally different

Complete denial. Can't admit the Canadian team has more experience and maturity.

The narrative exists because it became true. Of course if the USA wins we have a different narrative. This is your coping.

There is no blowing your load early in a competition that is structured like this.

There are 3 games for each team. Everything is must win. That would be like saying a team blew their load by playing really hard in the first game of the Stanley Cup final.

The reality is that Canada was very close to not making the final. Every game in the tournament ended by 1 goal, or in the case of Finland/Canada, 1 goal+1 empty netter. It isn't like USA came into the final and laid an egg, they arguably outplayed Canada, and Binnington had to make some unreal saves to keep them in it.

The US didn't outplay Canada. Like not even remotely close to the truth. The US had a better overtime where Binnington and then McDavid clutched up, but the preceding 60 minute game was mostly Canada controlling the play.

Yeah, Canada barely won in OT against a team that was effing banged up. I mean, enjoy the win, but holy crap this isn't a gold medal or even a proper World Cup of Hockey. It's a random tournament the NHL put on, take a chill pill.
There is win

Or did not win

USA did not win

Even if you disagree with that, the greater point of the post is that it is a best-on-best 3 game series for each team, where every game could have must-win implications if they want to make the final. The only game that ended up not mattering was the final game of the round robin between Sweden and USA. There is no blowing your load early in that kind of format.

Brady was the best US player, Matthews only became noticeable when Brady was moved to his line.

Not based on the stats.

You need to win 2 out of the 3 to get to the finals yes but theres OT wins, reg win, OT loss etc. so not really like a 3 game series.

You need to win the final, that is the only must win.

Oh my fukking god! No one ever said the narrative wasn’t true! It was only said that the narrative that came out of the OT would have been totally different if Binnington let one of those stellar saves past him instead. Which is true, and not at all meant as an insult to Canada hockey. What is so hard to comprehend about that for you? Holy shit, dude. Just friggin forget about it, Do you spend most of your time looking for inane shit to be insulted by?
