Binnigton saved Canada’s ass multiple times in the OT.

And that's really it. A lot of people are looking for excuses the next day, but the game went to OT, it came down to one shot. If US had scored the OT goal first nobody would be questioning any of this. Team USA did what they had to do, they lost in OT to McDavid, where is the shame in that?

Exactly this.

If Canada had lost a basketball game in OT because Michael Jordan or Lebron made a play, would you blame someone on the Canadian bench?

Calm down folks.

I am very, very far from a Tkatchuk fan, but don't we usually call an injured player that still wants to play in a very important game someone full of heart?
I think that this apply when 1- you can play the entire game and 2- you playing at 70% is better then the next man up at 100%.

Basically this thread summarized:

“Matthews should’ve covered McDavid better, what a loser”

“Tkachuk is a bum, can’t play hockey”

“Jack Hughes should be embarrassed”

Why was the entire thing was Tkachuk- based? Walt, Brady, Matthew all getting interviewed non-stop. I get it to a degree, but this Team Tkachuk thing was overdone, as well as all the Miracle on Ice crap.

Because they're the biggest personalities.
And that makes people tune in.

The only thing I think was crazy is that you couldn't find a different player to sit than Kyle Connor. Like he was your 14th best forward? Tkachuk didn't cost them anything.

Nelson and Kreider won’t be but all three Hughes brothers will be on the USA Olympic team in 2026. As will both Tkatchuk brothers. Cole Caufield will be too.

A Quinn Hughes and Charlie McAvoy pair would dominate.

I can't see all 3 together, too many better players, especially on defense. Two of the current group would have to be cut to make room for both the Hughes on defense, and the youngest one hasn't impressed me at all. Jack will be a longshot, he was a total no show, and didn't score at all, plus he looked totally overwelmed at times. USA needs legit scorers as you pointed out with Caufield, and i would also add Robertson as well as others, guys who can finish .

Kreider was not injured he was sat because he was bad all night and every time he was on the ice they got cratered.

Idk man I hated Connor coming out to begin with. They kept trotting Hughes out there mistake after mistake all tournament and buried Kyle Connor and then scratched him

Knowing Tkachuk possibly couldn’t even finish the game makes it feel like a massive f*** up by coaching.

Matthews was the best player for USA tonight and the last goal was on Fox for chasing the puck carrier behind the net which you learn not to do in pee wees and Matthews had to leave his coverage to cover for him.
Slavin was US best player.
Guentzel the most dangerous IMO
Best game from Mathews though all tournament. But an OT brainfart D coverage is what will be remembered
