He got his staged fight and the group chat though.
Boy, losing sure looks good on the Tkatchuks
Dunno who tf the Tkatchuks are, but Matthew Tkachuk has a Cup ring.

He shouldn’t have played, but he wanted to. Can’t say no to him. He had a broken sternum and scored in the finals against Vegas, I’m sure he brought that up.

I get why as a player he felt like he had to suit up and play. But it's up to the team and doctors to tell him he is only hurting the team by suiting up hurt.

But as an outsider I'd say yes he was absolutely selfish tonight and f***ed the US. If you know Tkachuk has a possibility of not finishing the game you likely suit up Kyle Connor instead of Chris Kreider. And possibly Tage?
Kreider played only 06:25 the entire game, less than Tkachuk. Sullivans an idiot for keeping Conner out if the plan was only playing Kreider 11 shifts. Not smart coaching.

He shouldn't have fought Brandon Hagel.

Matthew Tkachuk clearly thought he was stronger than he was and Hagel beat him up to ruin his tournament and season.
He didn’t beat him up, he fell awkwardly and iirc similarly to how he fell when he broke his sternum. Don’t think that’s the issue, but I wonder if he aggravated it. I heard groin, though.

I am very, very far from a Tkatchuk fan, but don't we usually call an injured player that still wants to play in a very important game someone full of heart?
Depends, did they get injured in that game and no one else can fill their post so they just battle through it, or did they get hurt in a different game and are blocking a player who is nearly as good as they are when healthy?

Now, I don't know if he was selfish or not. If the coaching staff and medical staff told him to go and he did, that's at least as much on them as him, if not more.

The bigger problem was that the f***in dinosaurs who run USA Hockey (just like the ones who came before them and are now retired) left some of the good players completely off the team. So you would have seen him replaced with some guy who didn’t really matter.

I read some crap about how Kreider was put in there because they like his speed lol. Is Kreider actually fast in 2025?

It felt like Sullivan was trying to get acquainted with some of his future players for next year after the Rangers hire him.
a bunch of these guys won't be on the Olympic team. They can start with Hughes and Nelson and Kreider.

I don't think so.

It's easy for us to say that he should have stepped aside because he was nursing an injury or something like that, but there was nothing that was going to stop him from playing unless he had two broken legs.

The more interesting decision to me is swapping Kreider for Connor. Why make that change if you're barely going to use Kreider?

Auston Matthews has more compete and tenacity in his baby finger than the entire Tkachuk family.
Gimme some of what you've been having. I wanna get loaded too

Full of something anyway!

Bro, Canada barely f***ing won in OT. Get off your high horse with donkey posts like this, he did his best.
This isn't Nintendo. The score was never going to be 8 2 in a final.

Tkachuk played because of his giant ego. Your average American doesn't know who the captain is but heard about "the fights" with the two brothers.

Guy is all about himself and basically put his country down a man all game. Beyond selfish.

Yeah, Canada barely won in OT against a team that was effing banged up. I mean, enjoy the win, but holy crap this isn't a gold medal or even a proper World Cup of Hockey. It's a random tournament the NHL put on, take a chill pill.
"effing" banged up

Canadian defense

Makar toews
Piteranglo Theodore
Morrissey paraynko

Yeah so basically 4 out of 6 starting dmen didn't play or recovering. Give it a rest.

Yeah this was basically a world cup of hockey. They change the silly name ever 7 or so years.

And USA was missing a Hart candidate. Prove to me that Theodore, Pietrangelo, and Morrissey are better than Hughes.

No, this is four nations out of 8-12 with no Russia. Math counts in the real world.

Idk why ppl harping on Matthews. He had 2 assists tonight and was a big reason why they even made it to OT lol
It’s the easy thing to do without actually paying attention to what you’re watching. Auston being a wimp and no show in big games actually hasn’t had legs for a few years now and mostly just lives on reputation.

Did you see hart candidates brother? They're compliers in regular season. Like Matthews. Hughes did a big nothing in the playoffs Vs Edmonton when mcdavid dominated him. He'll Bouchard dominated him and he isn't even a top 8 dman for team Canada.

Lol itty bitty Quinn Hughes would have been the difference.
