Did Jágr in 1990-91 play the most NHL games (RS + playoffs) of any first-year player, ever?

Ha, the answer is probably 'no'. But Jaromir Jágr in 1990-91 played all 80 games with Pittsburgh, and then dressed for all 24 Pens' playoff games.

That makes 104 games for his 1st year in the NHL. That's a hell of a lot of games for a 1st-year player.

And please note, I am only interested in players in their very first year in the NHL (not players who were technically 'rookies', but had played some games in seasons prior).

Yeah, that's utterly insane. I mean, he was 22, but still that's his first year in the NHL. Crazy.

Luc Robitaille and Mike Donnelly also played 108 games the season prior. Glenn Anderson also played 108 games in the 1993-94 season. He played in 85 regular season (due to a trade) and 23 playoff games.

Anze Kopitar, Mike Richards, Slava Voynov, and Justin Williams also played 108 games in the 2013-14 season: 82 regular season and 26 in the playoffs.

Other players with 108 games: Ryan O'Reilly (18-19), Jordan Leopold, Chris Clark, & Robyn Regehr (2003-04), Steven Stamkos, Anton Stralman, Valtteri Filppula, and Nikita Kucherov (14-15).

So I count 16 players that share the record.

The highest possible games anyone could have played in an NHL season, without getting traded and adding few extra games, is 112. 84 regular season games during the 1992-93 & 1993-94 seasons and 28 games in the playoffs.

1992-93 Kings' Jimmy Carson should have the all-time record here (among all players, not first years), because he played in 86 regular season games that year, and then after he went (back) to L.A, the Kings appeared in 24 playoff games. So, he should have appeared in 110 games in 1992-93...

...However, Barry "Mullet" Melrose scratched him six times... just a couple of months after the Kings traded past- and future-Norris winner Paul Coffey for him.

He was the first name I checked looking through. Started with most games played in the regular season and playoffs. If Glenn Anderson didn't miss one game in the 93-94 playoffs he would sole possession of the record with 109 games.
