Did DeBoer just fire himself with the Oettinger fiasco?

Dallas' defense always confused me. A lot of talent on paper but completely incapable of playing anything close to shutdown hockey. The moment Miro came back Harley turned into a bottom pairing guy and that was it. You can't play against the two best players in the world with a bunch of old farts up front and a defense consisting of Miro, an aging Lindell and a bunch of cast-offs.
I agree a little but I really think a 100% Heisk makes a difference. I have no idea what happeend to Harley or Lindell though. Both are guys that I would do backflips for if I heard we acquired them. Heisk was clearly still hurt. Kind of like how Ekholm is amazing but played the fewest minutes last night. But, to me, Heisk was meant to be the best Dman in that series. No secret my fav Oil is Bouch so it's pretty high praise from a 'Oiler homer'.lol

Reading through the thread I'm surprised that so many people think DeBoer really is out of rope in Dallas or ought to be fired.

I think he has more rope than much of the roster. I'd feel more confident going into the playoffs with DeBoer as the coach than I would looking at a roster that has several players with questionable compete levels and/or age related limitations. I'm talking about Duchene, Seguin, Robertson, Benn, Marchment, basically a large part of the forward roster that gets outworked. A lot of these guys just seem to be out there to have some fun. Then the back half of the D group is very underskilled. People here are blaming DeBoer for playing Ceci so much but it wouldn't be better if he gave those minutes to Petrovic/Lyubushkin, or to an unready Bichsel or overmatched Lindell.

I thought DeBoer made the right decision. A goalie has to be ready to play in that situation. We shouldn't even be talking about this right now

Its just he went about it in the worst way imaginable. Reminded me of Mike Keenan:

Compete is a verb. 😏

Don't know why but it's always irked me to hear compete used as a noun. Maybe it's an age thing. Lol

Agreed. This is a veteran team and no one showed up. Wyatt took a massive step back, the vets got old overnight. Rants disappeared. Robertson did his usual disappearance…. This problem with this core has been one long before Deboer.
Robertson had 5 points in 5 games. 4 goals.

He was a constant threat.

The problem was the Stars lack of Breakout.

Biron had another good point today. Said he was playing for Philly in the playoffs, had a stinker of a game down 6-1 to Pittsburgh, a team he struggled with. John Stevens sent Richards over to see if Biron wanted to stay in or not.

That is how you treat your starter, and Stevens was no genius coach

Robo has 12g in the 17 western conference finals games the team has played the last 3yrs. what are you talking about "Disappearing"

DeBoer is cooked but honestly these stars teams aren't great on paper and have punched above their weight for years so i don't get why some people are ripping them so much.

Seguin Benn and Duchene won't cut it they are old af
Yeah but those are their depth players. Their roster is stacked.

He should be out regardless of his comments, he stinks. Great regular season coach but year after year he can't get a team over the hump in the playoffs. Same old story and judging by his comments he hasn't learned anything after all these years of losing the big one.

He stinks? Coached to 2 SCF and 2 Memorial Cup Titles and never lost a G7 in the NHL.

Yeah he stinks. You know what really reeks? Your comment I'm replying to.

At this point, Skinner has all the bragging rights. He outplayed him last year and then he outplayed him this year and Ek only played 15 minutes in 5 games.

NO ONE predicted that. Definitely not me. I was preying for Pickard.lol

You seriously going to argue if the teams switched goalies the series is more competitive? Oilers would have swept the Stars.
