Did DeBoer just fire himself with the Oettinger fiasco?

I hope so, I enjoy seeing Debeor get fired. Aside from the fact I wouldn't have hired him to replace Gallant to begin with, I would have fired him for losing to Montreal in the WCF... in the end it worked out for the best as we got Cassidy.
DeBoer deserves a bunch of criticism, including losing to Montreal, but they wouldn’t have gotten that far if he hadn’t out-coached Bednar in which he basically gave up on Game 1 by starting Lehner and letting him get shelled to give Flower rest.

DeBoer made his choice and he has to own it. I don’t care what lead to it or what happens after. You made the choice. To pawn off blame and responsibility is cowardly. I wouldn’t listen to anyone that did that if they were in charge of me after if I were in any of those players shoes.

DeBoer is cooked but honestly these stars teams aren't great on paper and have punched above their weight for years so i don't get why some people are ripping them so much.

Seguin Benn and Duchene won't cut it they are old af
I always felt we punched under our weight under Debeor... especially with god damn Steve Spott running the powerplay. It was an odd combination of the results being better than they level play of should have allowed but not as good as the roster allowed. I believe our i guess success during the Debeor years was largely in spite of Debeor, not necessarily because of Debeor.

What a shit for brains coach. He's been horrific on goalies everywhere he's been, to the point where I remember someone in the media saying Nill went to Oetter and asked if he'd be ok with the hire.

If I'm Otter now I'm telling Nill its him or me.

Deboer is like the Matthews of coaches. Looks great until the going gets tough, then suddenly its everyone else's fault

He also failed to make any adjustments whatsoever, all series. And embarassed himself whining and crying through all his media availabilities.

He had no answers and looked swamped by about the second period of game two.

Knoblauch ran circles around him.
100% this.

He’s a good coach, but when it counted, he got out coached as much as I’ve seen in a long, long time.
