Did DeBoer just fire himself with the Oettinger fiasco?

DeBoer sucks. Sixth Conference final loss in a row, with three different Orgs. Players gotta go out and play the game, but you can't tell me his coaching sets them up for success.

Every time he gets near the end of the Dance he gets outcoached. No adjustments, whining to the media every game, called a timeout and looked mostly limp trying to pump his team up. He's the common denominator for teams choking, Vegas fired him and then beat him the next year on the way to their Cup...lmao

Maybe he should go coach the Canes, seems like their conference finals futility is equally matched.

VGK moved on from him, which was a great choice obviously. He had great rosters at SJ and failed to get the job done. Has had great rosters in DAL and again has failed. His decision on goalies tonight was so bad on multiple levels. He looks fine with rosters any coach could win with but when the rubber meets the road he is a clown. Dallas would be wise to part ways with him.

Made the SCF with NJ in 2012. Won three series while being lower seed. Lost in 6 to a wagon LA team. Maybe do a reverse sweep sans the Bernier incident.

SJ--2016. Made the SCF. Nobody really predicted them to beat Pittsburgh. The fact it went 6 was shocking.

He should be fired for sending Cody Ceci out on the penalty kill as his first option every time.
Ceci played entirely too many minutes for Dallas. They werent as deep as everyone claimed them to be. Deboer made some really poor choices, but at the end of the day the players didn't show up, at all, and for the 3rd straight game they only had 4 shots on net in the 3rd period. No one is winning games with those stats.

I don't know if Dallas does it, but they probably should.

From a psychological standpoint, i kinda get what DeBoer was going for. If the boys don't want to play in front of Oettinger, you yank him to try to send a message to them that if you're not going to show up in front of him, then he's not going to be there to bail you out.

The problem is the context; Oettinger got hung out to dry badly on both goals. Perry on the doorstep for the first one with no one within three feet of him. 2nd one Dallas gets absolutely torched in transition leaving Janmark free and clear to bury one.

You could see it after the second one, Oettinger was pissed just from his body language. Straight up looked like a "where the f*** are my teammates?" vibe. You pull him when he's already pissed which isn't going to make things better. And then because he was going to the locker room to obviously simmer down, you pull that stunt where you rip into him, making an already awkward situation far worse. All it does is send a message that "this is your fault and you're going to own it."

Just let him go to the room to cool the f*** off, you idiot. Completely unprofessional and shows a complete lack of situational awareness.

This isn't even taking account it's the 6th straight conference final DeBoer has lost as a coach too.
