Dickinson hit from behind on Chytil

Awful hit, far worse than anything Rempe’s ever done. Pretty pathetic that no Canuck player did anything knowing their teammate is potentially one concussion away from his career ending and his life not being the same.
They went after Bedard on the next shift, although it obviously wasn't anything dirty. Didn't get a chance to go after Dickinson since the coach hid him.

They roughed up Reichel and Bedard next shift

Many Canuck fans didn't understand Allvin targetting Chytil for this specific reason. (Or Byram, or Norris) Their disregard for injury history is simply, reckless. Personally players like that have 0 value to me after Alberts, Dorsett, Ferland. I hope he is okay, but I will also not be surprised if this is season ending also.

As a parent, I will be very conflicted seeing my son leave the ice woozy for the 3rd or 4th time in his life.

No penalty on the play, dirty hit in a 6-2 game. Gotta be a few games here. Dirty dirty shit, video will be linked when available. This is bad
I really doubt this will be a few games. Zary's play was worse and that got 2 games. McDavid's also worse and got 3.

This is a hit on a guy that just played the puck. Bad hit for sure because it was behind, and into the boards, but it was still an attempt at a hockey play. It wasn't late, or malicious, or a charge, etc besides the bad angle of approach.

I could see a fine, or 1 game, or nothing.

I feel so bad for Chytil, but at some point he might have to hang it up. Too many head injuries.

I don’t believe he’s a sustainable NHL player, and not due to his play on the ice. You can’t take that many headshots and last in the NHL.

For his long term health at some point he’s gonna need to make some future quality of life decisions.

Bs non-call. Hits him in the back, head hits the glass. Should be an automatic 5 and a game like Hughes got vs the sens, but somehow this doesn't even get a penalty. Refs should be suspended for their incompetence.

He needs to hang 'em up. I understand one's love for the game and that millions of dollars are at stake, but that's not worth living with scrambled eggs for a brain.

He also plays in such a reckless/unaware way that stuff like this is just going to keep happening. I mean, you have to admire the fearlessness, but it's not sustainable.

I am not a Canucks fan. But hits like this (and the typical reaction of so many idiot fans with these "not even a penalty" reactions) encapsulate everything bad about the NHL. Chytil's career and life, and the Canucks' fate, likely permanently and terribly altered by, quite frankly, a pure assault. "Hating to lose" is the animating bullshit behind a thousand monstrous hockey hits that spread a plague of concussions, CTE and career-ending injuries. And the league, refs, owners, execs don't give a shit. And the players are happy to sacrifice their brothers in arms for their own self-interested goonery.

In the past (plz don’t ask me to source this it’s like months and months ago) Elliott Friedman mentioned the next safety related thing he could see changed in the league is a ban on hitting near and towards the boards. It results in so many unfortunate outcomes. It stuck with me and I’ve tended to notice it. I hope Chytil recovers quickly and was the Friedmans comment was the first thing I thought of after seeing the play.

This weekends few questionable hits kinda bummed me out, but I think in this one a bit more than most. (Give me huge hits that don’t result in games missed due to injury = happy camper) If this was more open ice there’s probably nothing to talk about. Players need to understand that by taking these hits they’re maybe forcing the league to remove them from the game. I think they should be penalized but it’s tough to tell defenders they cannot body check opponents in their zone with the puck. That’s their zone. From the defenders perspective: if you want to carry the puck you are enemy number one and do so at your own peril to a degree. Going near the boards shouldn’t give offensive players an advantage where they can no longer be body checked, but imo you still need to get rid of hits like this and penalize guys who aren’t able to hold up when they put a guy numbers first into the glass.

There's honesetly not much there. Not much of a hit or push from Dickinson, moreso trying to finish him and pin him to the wall. Borderline minor penalty.

Unfortuantely Chytil's head injury history and lack of awareness rear their head again.

It's really unfortunate how things turned out for him. I was mad when the Rangers traded him and included him in the JTM deal but with him this hit might be the end of his career.

He wows you with some absolute majestic rushes carrying the puck, pretty much every game. He just could never quite put it all together and stay healthy. It's a shame. To have that ability and skillset he had in the NHL (basically be good at the hardest thing to do) but never put it together.

He's a beaut but he will be with ondrej Kase in extraliga soon. Or doing commentary with francouz and Voracek.

All 4 players had NHL careers cut short... It sucks.

I hate the hit and injury but I doubt a suspension comes from it.

It’s the unintended consequences but regardless of thr intent to injure or if it was to be a more forceful hit or not it was a hit from behind. At that point the bad outcome is on the hitter. A shame it worked out like this. Hopefully Chytil is ok.
