Rumor: Dhaliwal- Hearing that Jason Robertson has been made available for trade by the Stars

During his show: Donnie and Dhali, Dhaliwal dropped a juicy bomb saying he is hearing Jason Robertson's name out there as someone that has been made available via trade.


For those that dont know, Rick Dhaliwal is a media member based in Vancouver. He is highly connected especially with player agents and is known as one of if not the most reliable people with sources. He has broken the news of many signings and trades before it became reality.

Pat Brisson is Robertson's Agent...Brisson has been on Dhaliwal's show many many times.

The segment started with Dhaliwal encouraging the Canucks to trade for Mason Marchment but then drops the bomb that he is hearing Robertson is the one thats available for trade.


Robertson has 1 more year at 7.75mil AAV and then he will be getting paid next year into a possibly 10+ mil contract. He still has 1 yr left of RFA when this contract expires.


Perhaps Dallas doesnt want to commit the major major money on Robertson and they want to trade him now and get ahead of it.

They also only have around 4 mil of cap space with only 16 players under contract.

I thought of this possibility while making NHL-wide offseason predictions, and came up with a Robertson + Harley trade to Buffalo, since neither player has trade protection. Basically it was those two + Dumba (cap dump) for Peterka, Tuch and the 9th overall pick, which I think DAL flips for a Dman (Pulock+, I think?)

Owners hate eachother but Canucks should look into Hronek for Robertson trade.

This would be a big trade for the Canucks on and off the ice considering how big the Filipino community is in Vancouver. It would mean $$$$$$ for the Canucks owner Franky Blueberry.

Robertson’s next contract is going to age like yogurt in the desert so I understand Nill’s desire to get ahead of it. A strong RD would make the most sense in return.

However, that doesn’t fix the coaching sitch and it’s a much bigger issue all things considered.

He would be nice, but the Habs don’t have that many assets to spend on what is essentially a luxury, not a need.

This organization’s fixation on Robertson not being here being the answer is bizarre. Even after coming back from injury and being one of the most productive players in the NHL, then coming back from injury again at the end of the season, and being one of the only Stars to show up in the third round, they still want to dump him. There were rumors of difficult negations last time around- Nill needs to leave his ego at the door.

Why. What makes Rantanen much better than Robertson. He scored a whopping 0 goals in his last 10 playoff games. He wasn't doing much in reg season either.

I don’t think this should really surprise people. A hockey trade for a top 2-3 defender or a different style of top 6 forward would bolster Dallas significantly.
