I'm not super here to talk about the validity of this rumor, as I no longer believe the validity of any Canucks rumor (weeping intensifies). But to add that if you wanted a sneaky veteran leadership, HIGH HIGH character guy, who could both grow with a young team, as well as play a vet role Boeser should be high on wish lists.

As to his value, or whether he is or isn't available who knows, but my two cents

Typical Route: Start with a core of established stars and hope you have enough quality young players on low cap hit deals.

Columbus could go the other route. Start with quality young players on low cap hit deals, and supplement with expensive and established vets. Basically make the future now instead of waiting for their young players to get paid and it's no longer possible to add quality veterans. Sure they'll overpay for players like Boeser, but maybe it's worth it for a "short window".

I'm not saying I'd advocate for this position as the Blue Jackets GM, but I could see it as an interesting option. Easier to trade/sign older stars than to unearth young talent they already have.

Seems Allvin is going to move Boeser if he can't get a deal worked out. Canucks are not looking like a contending team, so you can't let assets (especially when they have so few prospects in the pipeline) go for nothing.

if he goes to a contender as a rental, CBJ can deal with that team instead.

Depends on what your goal is, KJ has been awesome and Marchy is about to break 50pts for the first time. Chinakhov has all the tools and looked fantastic and Voronkov has done a 180 since last year. I think he's secretly taking over as a leader in the room. Got some great freaking Russians on this team right now (wish we had Bob still =( and they will all improve. But they would improve sooooooo much better with players like Boeser/Monahan & Jenner ahead of them playing against opposing teams best players.

Need more depth....

Depth sure but I don't think boeser is the direction to go. The Russians aren't a secret anymore, no teams would be playing a matchup game against him and letting the Russians take softer matchups so thats basically set in stone. Health has damaged our depth pretty bad with 3 important forwards out now but that's why people have be advocating for cheaper options (Nyquist) to hold the fort until bodies start coming back. We basically just need someone to play with Johnson for awhile. Use the bigger trade chips to work on the defense

Much the opposite. Players like KJ breaking out coincides with them getting prime opportunity, especially top unit PP time. Boeser is also an offensive guy and needs top PP time. And he is also highly dependent on having a center that is really going. It's been Miller or Pettersson, and when they're not at their best, neither is Boeser. So Boeser would have to get the better linemates and that pushes a kid like KJ further down into lesser minutes playing with grinders.

The amount of BS out of him and most of the media here is insane.
Even worse when eastern media parrots what they say.

There is not one rumour or prediction that actually happened.

When do sign and trades ever happen at the trade deadline? That makes no sense whatsoever. In the off-season maybe but then you're just trading rights which are worth like a 4th rounder.

We could use wingers? Brother just tell us you're commenting on CBJ with no idea what's going on with CBJ. The amount of young talent on the wings is ridiculous.

We need defense and goaltending upgrades. Nothing here makes a lick of sense.

I read it as a sign and trade is what CBJ wants. makes sense they would try it now, rather than Boeser go somewhere else, like it and not hit UFA. It also allows them to do an 8th year to get AAV down a bit.

Sometimes, he gets fed information by the team / agents to fit a script but for the most part he is very very well connected.
