it's not that I think he's worthless. It's just that he's not able to be a consistently-passable goaltender. I think it was last season that kind of perfectly exemplified Jarry. He had an insane number of shutouts, but was also so bad down the stretch that he was benched despite the fact that the Penguins were fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot. He will be amazing one game and give up the first goal in the next 3.Ideally he will be a Canuck July 1st for 775k after Pittsburgh buys him out.
Maybe im alone but at half retained, for free and dumping Patera's 775k for next year we could do alot worse as a #3 even if you think hes worthless today.
Id never even look at Jarry if Demko wasnt broken though.
I think he's also given up more backbreaking goals (like a goal within a minute of the Pens scoring to tie or take the lead) than Fleury did in his entire career with the Pens. He's just incredibly unclutch, if such a thing exists.
Maybe someone else can fix him. Maybe not. Whatever the case, he's not a good fit for the current Penguins, who either need a brick wall or a total sieve, but not someone who rotates between the two randomly, killing both our chances for a top pick or the playoffs. I guess I'd retain. And yeah, for free.
