Ruff stated he's not playing just one goalie. I doubt the washed up old guy is one of them though.

Optimus Reim will be the Sabres backup this year, aside from “close to Rochester’s games” B2B and west coast trips. And obviously injuries. The Sabres didn’t sign him to lose him on waivers.
Just because posters here wouldn’t have signed him and would roll with 6K and Levi as goalies doesn’t mean anything. You need that veteran presence now to bounce ideas off of. The Sabres aren’t gonna risk having a goalie with a low and slow glove hand be the third person on their depth chart.

Rewatching the goals against, the first goal he was not challenging the shooter and was in the crease.

That first goal is mostly on Cobra for getting tight shorts and throwing that shitty pass to Zucker, which was immediately picked off and fed to a wide open Noesek. They played some brain dead hockey today.

If they bridge Levi, this is a solid comparable.
I thought he looked sharp, you could make the argument that a bigger goalie might have got some of Casey's goal. Wouldn't doubt for a second that was on the shooter's mind.

XGA only takes into account from where shots were taken, not the type of shot.

That's not true, most of the public xG models have more factors than location. They track forehand/backhand/etc, angle change, rebound, and # skaters on ice.
Money puck is also flurry, score, venue adjustable. Obviously it's way better for a season than one game. Model builders aren't naive, they do a lot of adjusting.

Hope they leave him there a for a while too. Rochester is in the midst of their busiest month so it's not like he shouldn't get work immediately. The missing calmness in the crease, his dubious rebound control, just getting sharper overall... go get to work.

My only concern with Levi to Rochester is that his issues this year have a lot to do with putting himself in poor position when things get hectic. UPL did the same thing and confidence is part of it, but he needed NHL reps and coaching to get past it.
That being said, he needed to go down. This isn't the season to spend teaching with two more capable NHL goaltenders ahead of him. If nothing else he should get a good confidence boost winning in Rochester.
