I would send him back today. Give the Amerks a fighting chance at the post season

He will be. They are going to use Levi when they want to rest Luukkonen. This is highly unlikely to be permanent. If it was, I doubt they would have moved Cooley at the deadline.

Good backup goaltending is needed. Else, UPL is going to be playing 75 games a year, which will of course burn him out

A good Levi gives us plenty of options. We can keep him and play him 17-22 games in a year to keep UPL fresh, or we can use him to improve the team in front of UPL (likely a first or better)

Breaking in new blades may have been part of why he was so off last night. Cool to hear that he went back out on the ice after the game last night to get his head right.

Was looking at Devon Levi's stats in the process of making a Sabres MVP poll (if you wanna go vote.. it's a close race atm) and noticed his overall sv% is meh but with some really good underlying stats. 5th in Goals saved above average per 60 and 21st in xHigh danger unblocked shot attempt sv%.

Does that align with the eye test? How's he been this year? always found it unfortunate we gave away a really talented prospect even though it worked out with reinhart.

Eye test for me -- saw him twice.
The Amerks lost both in OT (3-2 at Syracuse / 2-1 at Hershey).
He was exceptional, though he gave up shaky single goals in each contest.
I can confidently say he was Rochester's top player in both games, and was easily the best player on the ice (both teams) in Hershey (37 saves on 39 shots).
He's going to be a very good NHL goalie.
A great goalie? We'll see. That should be a fun ride in finding out.

He's actually played a decent amount of hockey this year and what looked to be a wasted developmental year at one point turned out to be a pretty good one. 47 games between the AHL and NHL plus whatever he plays in the playoffs. It'll be interesting to see what type of player he is next season and if he's ready for consistent NHL games.

When he was in the NHL? He had some great games and he had some really bad ones. His rebound control is where he really struggled. He wasn't terrible, but he wasn't good. After he was sent down to Rochester he has been excellent - he was good in his call up games as well.

He definitely needed a full year in the AHL and maybe more. I imagine he will be our backup to Luukkonnen next year.

Should've been this way all year but I'm glad the Sabres finally made the decision to just give Luukkonen the lion's share in Buffalo and Levi in Rochester. It's what both guys needed respectively and ended up being a good development season for both of them.

Hopefully Levi's season is a bit longer and we get 6K locked up ASAP

This is what he needs. Pressure games, volume of shots, experience in a league a step up from college hockey, playoffs.

Yeah, it's great to see him rising to the occasion like he did at the last tier too.

That said, it sucks to see them wasting his performance and not getting the win.
