There's no rush. The process takes however long it takes.

He'll practice eventually and get a game or two in by the end of the season.
"the process" - been there, done that...though our process had to include school records and background checks. I doubt Levi has to go through that crap. it seems that others that were waiting on immigration didn't wait this long... (I can't recall who it was on the team that had this issue before Levi).

The USCIS is backed up to an otherworldly degree. I've had students not be able to return to school because their paperwork doesn't get finished in a timely manner, and USCIS has a full year to renew the paperwork for these kids.

If Levi was a normal person and had a normal job, he'd likely be waiting months.

Stillman had to go through it after the trade.

I wonder if him having had a student visa actually makes it trickier?

He's never been through this immigration process. School visas are much easier and have a lower threshold for documentation and less process.

The NHL probably does not manage this either, they probably use outside counsel so they don't f*** it up.

It is a change in status to a level up. That usually entails a different level of review. Trickier? No, the process is largely defined. Longer probably due to the fewer sets of eyes at higher levels.

OK, let's say the visa doesn't resolve prior to the end of the season.

Does his contract still burn a year off the ELC?

Took my wife 2 months for a routine green card renewal with no issues, she just got it in the mail today as a matter of fact.
