I don't know why anyone had doubts he would sign, if you watch the way he speaks about the organization and the group here, it's pretty evident he likes the organization, none of his responses ever felt disingenuous. His head is screwed on right and he has the right mentality for a goaltender, so pumped for this kid, can't wait to see him on the ice for the Sabres.

He can be a top-5 NHL goalie with some Vezina nominations. Yes, he can be THAT good.
It would be a shocking development if he isn't a legit NHL starting goalie in the future.

Congrats, Sabres fans. I've been watching Hockey East since its inception. In my opinion, he's as good as anyone that's ever played in that conference. I'd be shocked if he wasn't the answer you guys have been looking for in goal.

I imagine Brock Faber will get that as will Alexander Nikishin. It's probably more timing than anything - Niemela is already signed but if that had been this year, it's probably the max deal.

Hopefully, his collegiate and U20 performances are predictors of his eventual ability in the NHL. Let's not forget that Hellebuyck took nearly 90 AHL games to get up to speed, Ryan Miller over 100 (and that's taking out the lockout AHL year). Patience folks. Patience.
