I said the same thing to my son! It was like the Devils did nothing but provide a setting- all talk was either Ranger greatness or Ranger mistakes. We were like the background for a yearbook photo.

Also, this just came to mind. We have another huge advantage. We now have 2 guys who was on that team the last go. I think that's pretty big. Rod is a good coach so I doubt he'll stick to the same exact formula, but I doubt that much will change either. Noesen and Pesce will probably have some insight on how to beat them.
I took a look at the Canes roster. Their forwards are incredibly underwhelming. Defense though is pretty strong. Even more so, if they get Nikshin. Is Fitz secretly their gm too?

Has nothing to do with coaches, he’s just steadily improved from the first few years of his career to the next three and this year was another jump.
Ruff would never allow him to play this physical. He held them all back.

They don’t have any franchise players IMO. Aho is a tier below that to me and Svech cant stay healthy and has underwhelmed. Their D plays extremely well as a unit and within their system, but no game breakers.
Nikishin will probably change that. Morrow is no slouch either (still mad devils passed on him to pick fcking Stillman).

Yeah, you're right. I was going off memory of the replay. As you said, big issue was him following Mercer for a couple of steps.
I know Subban rubs some the wrong way but I am so happy to have a national media cheerleader for NJ after years of being an afterthought.
Now that Bratt has added a physical edge to his game he can play a bottom six role next to Hischier.

For whatever reason nhltv didn't broadcast this game so I've been trying to watch as much highlights as I can. Beating the rags always feels extra special, especially shutting them out and basically ending their playoff hopes. I was pretty down after the Jets game, but the team has looked great ever since. I don't know how far they can get, the competition is tough and we're missing key pieces, but there's plenty of time to cry after if we get knocked out so let's just try to enjoy this moment and hope for the best.

ESPecially when it's ESPN/ABC where he's doing it from because they were the worst for so long with regurgitating the same "SWAMP" talking points even after they moved to the rock and ranting about playing the trap long after they moved away from it.
Messier and Levy are both Rangers homers and I think part of it is his little dig at them.

Well especially considering they have to have that jackass Messier in the studio, almost seems like an MSG studio at times with the token nice guy Devils homer (Dano/Subban) and the Ranger homerism from the rest.

The fact that the announcing crew basically treated the Devils as an afterthought is easier to swallow with our strongest soldier in the studio.
