We literally only put up 9 shots through 2 combined periods against a dog shit team. I'm supposed to think that means we will beat a vastly superior team that has 7 points more than us in the standings that we split the season series with when fully healthy and we have only gotten worse since?

If NJ Carrie’s their improved play and more importantly Markstrom’s resurgence going forward they will easily lock up the third seed. The issue will be can they hold up against Carolina. If they let me play they’d be guaranteed to win the series. By game three Carolina would be down to about five skaters.

If there is a tie the first tie breaker is regulation wins. They have clinched that over everyone but the Rangers. They have 4 more RW that the Rangers.

If that's the case then yeah one Columbus lose this weekend or Tuesday night, along with Rags losing to Tampa, and us beating Boston does it.

Isles are eliminated from 3rd if they either drop a point this weekend or us gaining one on Tuesday I think.

Yup. We didn't even break 20 shots on net against a horrible rangers team and gave up 26 to them. Carolina will eat this team up 5 on 5 alone not to mention special teams.

Teams win games all the time when being outshot marginally or heavily. Have you just started watching hockey ?

The Devils played a good game that they should be proud of. They shutout their rivals , were perfect on the PK with a short handed goal , scored a powerplay like it was nothing , got great goaltending, etc... Yeah there were some not do good stretches of hockey and some turnovers but that happens to every team. The game changes when you are up a goal or two. The Rags played somewhat desperate with their playoff chances basically on the line and didn't do much in the 3rd. That's a testament to the Devils buying in to Keefe and their ability to close out games. They have only lost 1 regulation game all season when leasing after 2 periods and it was that awful collapse against Calgary 2 weeks ago...

don’t know what to tell you man, we won 4-0. they’re not gonna get as many shots because without jack they’ve played a much more defensive and opportunistic game. they led from the second period on and only had 2 power plays one of which they scored 4 seconds into.

you’re seriously trying to turn this into a bad thing by bitching about what *might* happen in a playoff series? there’s no reason for anyone to take these posts seriously - you’re just desperate to be negative about something.

The first period is irrelevant to your point of score effects since like I said in game they got worse as the game dragged on with their actual play.

The issue is this team has a massive issue going all turtle mode with the lead that has cost them games against really shitty teams that are not the Canes, who some here think we will beat because we put up 4 against a bad Rangers team who still out played them 5 on 5 after the first period before we ever scored a goal.

Just shut out a desperate Rangers team minus J Hughes, Siegenthaler, and Hamilton and we’re getting complaining. The way things are it’s not going to look “pretty” or dominant.
