GDT: Devils vs. Blackhawks, 7:30pm

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

It was tipped but the way Markstrom is playing lately, he could give up that rebound on an untipped shot. He definitely had a few bad rebounds/failures to secure the puck.

Initial shot was tipped.

Yeah I went back to look at the highlights this morning with a clearer head and it was tipped on route, he made the first save which is all you can ask in that situation from a goalie. Would've been nice if Pesce covered something for the second straight game with a crease play but it is what it is.

They are obviously under the misconception that the fans mean nothing. It's the same around the league but they will take every dime you have to watch their bad product🤔

Anyone foolish enough to believe the organization has the fans best interest in mind is delusional. In the end, it's entertainment and entertainment only. No more. No less.

I think that's true of every team in every sport in North America. NJ is hardly unique in that regard.

That’s an odd take. It’s $. And what brings in $? Fans. What brings in fans? Winning.
Yes and no. Look at a team like the Cowboys. In my mind it's a lot more about the glitz and glamour than actually winning. Same with the Lakers. Despite the Jets and Giants being mediocre how many folks give up those season tickets? Same with the Commanders.

Comparing NFL teams and the Lakers to the NHL…and further, the Devils who are a lower mid level team at best in terms of popularity, it’s comparing apples to oranges.

For those who didn't get to see Marky's postgame interview. His reaction to Carter's question cracks me up.

Thought he had a pretty good game overall last night. Hopefully he can keep finding his game. Seems like a great guy too.

Has to be hard playing with a small nagging injury like that, but overall I think he’s brought some stability in net with Jake Allen.

Of course. But the Devils are part of a bigger conglomerate at this point. My guess is in the scheme of things they largely exist as a line item on a much bigger balance sheet and P&L statement. The Commanders alone must dwarf anything the Devils do or don't do.

Goaltending has been a strength for this team overall this year and Marky is part of the reason why. It sucks he got hurt and is still hurt, but he has been good for us.

So has Allen and Daws when called on.

I'm not sure who I ask to start Game 1 right now though.

I didn’t think Markstrom looked bad on the shots that were goals as much as he looked bad on the shots that weren’t goals. He was a real adventure on several routine saves. Even the TNT guys were bringing it up at different points.

I wouldn’t say he shouldn’t be the playoff goalie just yet, it’s too early to say. But he shouldn’t be given games right now just because he is the guy.

I’m hoping they give him the Winnipeg game rather than the Minnesota game, as it’s probably less winnable.

Luke, Bratt, Nico and Timo are the last "special" players, meaning they do things on the ice a standard deviation from normal NHL players. If we lose Luke, the only d man who is special, we are totally screwed.
