Probably. We could still lose in regulation and get in, but will anyone have any confidence of when the next win is coming if we can’t beat them?

And it’s not like we can “Blame Markstrom!” Cause they’re only gonna keep throwing him in there whether he turfs yet another game or not.

If I were Allen I wouldn’t want to re-sign here, if they actually want him to.

Gerry will go with Markstrom-Daws which stinks of Vanecek-Schmid 2.0 and with nothing behind Daws.

Yea, this is why I scoff at some of the moneypuck statistics that lack context. They've had the Devs wayyyyy too high since about late January. I'd argue before that, since their ES performance concerned me even when winning early on and so top heavy, but I could at least understand their perspective. Still above 90% is nuts. Heck, it's still 94% to make it and 28% to get out of 1st round. That's a joke.

I'd say ~60% to make it right now thanks to other team's ineptitude and relatively favorable schedule. 2% to get out of 1st round. They are in deep shit if they don't win tonight....people act like they have some huge lead. They could easily lose the next 4 games after tonight, so gotta have this one.

I also hope this means the free website statisticians take a break tonight. No more reconciling Deseve O Meter crap with final outcomes.

Tonight is for the regulars. The ones that know it’s a simple decision.

Their even strength defense was very good. And I thought it would be enough to overcome the lower offensive output. But a couple key injuries and the typical mid season complete collapse seems to have derailed things.

Interesting math here. I’m not sure there will ever be an NHL playoff series where a team has a 98% chance of winning.

You need to throw some serious cash on the Devils to miss the playoffs because you can get that for +1200. Insane value if you believe they have a 60% chance of making it.

We should be able to win one of those against Minnesota. They're injury depleted and clearly struggling also right now.

But with the way Markstrom is playing and with the way the staff forces him to play, they're another team I could see lighting him up for 5. I could see the Hawks doing that too.

They'll probably give Allen the least winnable game of the back to back, which is Winnipeg.

Markstrom and Allen have alternated the past 9 games. They're obviously going to split the back-to-backs coming up on Friday/Saturday. It's not the worst thing to start Markstrom today against a bottom-feeder to hopefully help get him back on track. Given how pissed Markstrom was at the end of the last game, I also like going back to him tonight.

I was going to say that I'm as pessimistic about our playoff chances as the rest of this group, but you guys have set a hell of a low bar. I don't think we're going to do much versus Carolina, but our best chances is still with a dialed-in Markstrom in net. I get why the team wants to get the guy we traded for to be our #1 going again after coming back from injury with just 10 games versus riding a soon-to-be UFA down the stretch and into the playoffs.

Depending on how things go these next 10 games, Keefe may have a tough decision come playoff time but understandably Markstrom will get a lot of the benefit of the doubt.
