Fitz told everyone this a couple of weeks ago. He said he was looking for hockey trades at the deadline this season. I get it. Sending guys out for draft picks just sends the message to the locker room they are waving the white flag. Do you think Jack and Nico and Bratt will be excited to hear the team got a first a second and a prospect for Severson? Short of a team offering a good return for Subban, which didn't happen, I don't think anyone else was getting dumped, especially for a low round pick. Subban still has value to NJ down the stretch as a team out of the playoffs that is still trying to win games. I know some folks here have mixed feelings about that. Fitz is hoping the days of NJ as deadline dumpers are over, which I find understandable. The guys in the locker room have had nothing but bad news since 2018. Some belief in them by Fitz might be a good thing. I'm sure they hear plenty about how bad the team is from anyone else in NHL circles.
