I also happen to think you can find a younger, cheaper player for that role for the rest of the year.

I went through the Ducks 2025 game cards on hockey stat cards and he was in the top half of Duck players most of time, not sure how 2024 looked.

But lately, he has been fine and thats on a mediocre Ducks d team.

His last 10 gms are so. He will do fine in NJ. This isn’t some disaster player coming over. The trade value can be talked about but this player isn’t going to kill the team. I think it will help stabilize the pairings at the very least

He wasn’t out of office, he just makes the same number of bad decisions as he does good ones.

I do think it’s sorted itself out into offseason/in season so far, not reassuring but it is what it is.

I get the folks not liking the trade. But its a bit over dramatic to lose your cool over a late 2nd in a weak draft and a mid tier prospect who won’t be helping NJ in a few years for a 3rd pairing dman when we lost an entire pair of dmen to injury. In a pretty standard TDL deal.

I'm so grateful our best player went down and is donezo for the season and the team has teams barely behind us in the standings and they have games in hand. They are closer to being on the verge of missing than making the playoffs at this point.

This stretch looks like a disaster to me. Add tomorrow and it reeks of 2-6. Winnipeg loss, we suck in afternoon games and have lost 2 of 3 to Philly already. Columbus always gives us fits as it is and now they are trying to jump us, loss. Oilers are better, loss. We'll beat the Pens, loss to Jackets again. Beat the flames, loss to Ottawa who is also trying to jump us.

I think it's going to be an absolutely horrible bumpy ride coming up.

Would love nothing more to be wrong but this team has been shit since December and just lost their best player and the only time they made the playoffs was the 1 year he played almost the entire season.

Embrace the doom because it's coming in strong.
