Confirmed with Link: Devils trade 2nd rounder and Herman Traff for Brian Doumilin

There is no way the organization can make any move without it hurting.

We don't have much in terms of assets so anything we spend is going to be too much.

It's very simple. You either sit idle and watch the season go down the drain or you try to salvage it with what little you have...

Either scenario the pitch forks would be out...."paid too much" or "sat on his hands"....pick your bitch adventure.
I read those last 2 words as opposite at first

A couple years back I was looking up the 2004 World Cup rosters and was surprised to see Klee on Team USA.
Wait, did he actually play?' Or was he just a reserve/extra?

I remember that tournament fairly well (it was the first look at Ovechkin), but do not at all remember Klee appearing in games.

Then again, I probably couldn't even name the 6 defensemen who would have probably dressed most games, so for all I know he did play multiple games/every game?

EliteProspects lists Klee as playing in 4 games which I definitely didn't remember. My main memory from that tournament was Paul Martin having a solid showing for a guy fresh off his rookie NHL season. I think the dread of the impending lockout kinda ruined that tournament for me.

He is on draft day.

Center is the toughest position to fill via trade and UFA, that’s why you should actually draft some.

Teams are resigning their depth centers or likely asking a king’s ransom for them.

Let’s just say my expectations on Fitz fixing our center issue are non-existent.
The man is so against drafting centers that he has me excited for what Matyas Melovsky can do in Utica one day. I don’t want to know the names of 6th round picks.

We didn't get fleeced I don't think. But I'm starting to worry about the prospect pool and our lack of picks. I don't feel like the team is where it should be considering what we have left in the cupboard.

that’s my B i saw this post and thought both points were referencing Dumoulin

I'm not trying to get political here (I've been skirting the line with Fitz's talking to another relevant figure at the moment), just a little bit of American history.

But I used to wonder if Fitz was basically Gerry Fording the rest of Nixon's (Shero) second term. There were certain things that made it feel like it could have been a possibility. Like when they gave Fitz a multi-year contract at first, but not a GM specific mult-year contract, until Pittsburgh fired Rutherfool and had no GM for a minute. This is why I've called him Gerry Ford Fitzgerald. That comparison is not a compliment whatsoever. If you wanna know my opinion on those two figures from long ago.

Not to mention that they fired Shero and replaced him with his right hand man. Now that does happen in a lot of organizations, but it felt a little weird at the time.

At this point he's been here longer than Shero, but in some ways it feels like he may have just been serving Shero's entire second term rather than the rest of Shero's second term.

Hopefully, if this is the end of him, the next GM lasts longer than Jimmy Carter, because if he doesn't then it means we still suck.

If we make the playoffs, I don't think he should be fired, but I think he may have done enough to make people a little uneasy and lose some faith they had in him not long ago.

He makes me more then a little uneasy with his stupid no name picks that quickly turn into dust. He needs to go sooner then later. Sorry Fitz fans whoever you are.

I honestly tried to get my fill of it because it seemed like the only hockey we'd get to watch for at least 4 more months. It was more like 13 more months.

I don't think I honestly thought it would be a year long lockout, but it seemed like we were going until at least January, just like the lockout that came before and the one that came after.

I'm kind of over him at this point.

He may be an okay GM or even a decent one, but he's not ''One of the best in the league'' which I've heard said about him, even from outside sources. Not just Devils fans. I think he's critically acclaimed in the hockey world, but he hasn't had much success to this point. I've mocked Yzerman with Detroit a TON, but he's only been the GM in Detroit for a year longer than Fitz and Yzerman inherited a team in shambles. Fitz inherited a team that was probably in the final build stage and the day Shero was fired Harris (who apparently has turned it over to Blitzer when it comes to all things Devils) point blank said the record isn't good enough and we're not winning enough.
