I’ve honestly always been a fan of it. I know people like to pick on it because it comes off as goofy and lazy, but I appreciate it for what it is. It’s different than what everyone thought it would be and I appreciate that they took a swing on that, even if it wasn’t a home run.

Amen, it's a solid jersey.
I feel like we got so used to only having one set of jerseys around here for so long that once new ones started getting introduced it was easy to react negatively, because they just didn't look quite right after so many years of a consistent look.

But if we're being honest, I think we're pretty spoiled here; just about all the new designs work for me on some level, whether it's the two Reverse Retros, Jersey-Jersey, or the Stadium Series design. Mix in the green throwbacks and it's hard to complain. I'll still agree the red home jerseys look better on the ice with the bottom stripes on them, but I get the sense they designed the current "regular" look with fan purchases in mind.

I think the story here with the Jersey jersey was the best because ScottyK (if he’s still on here) found it first on Adidas website and it just said the jersey was black with no image. He and I both bought it sight unseen before it was officially announced and he ended up getting it delivered while mine got intercepted in PA

He ended up being the first person to leak the jersey before the official announcement. HF Boards for the win.

Oh I'm well aware of the origin. I remember during the COVID year, the Sens had a bunch of sickos as cardboard cutouts in the stands. Lovely image edits too.

It grew on me a couple of days after it was announced. I hated it when I first saw it, and my wife lets me know that every time I put on my Hischier Jersey jersey. But it really caught on because of the camp factor.

I was suggesting he might get a big deal. I’m thinking if Dillon got one then Kivacevic might as well.
I think Fitz overpaid Dillon pretty significantly to sell him on the Devils being a place he wouldn’t languish for the twilight of his career. He’s also perfectly fits the mold of a Fitz-ian defenseman and i shudder to think how much he would’ve got if he has been 28 or 29 instead of 33.

That being said, i think Kovacevic would leap at the chance to sign a 4-5 year deal for a bargain AAV. Is that worth it? I can’t know but hopefully the computer boys have an accurate sense of him as a player.

As good as Kovacevic has been, he’s going to get a huge pay day coming out of this year that the Devils just can’t match.

Plus the Devils also have Nemec and/or Casey coming up and need to leave a spot open for them.

I don’t think he’s getting a huge payday. Pesce got 5.5 per year with 600+ games under his belt. Kovacevic hasn’t even hit 200 and currently makes 775K. If he gets even 4.5 per year that would be amazing for this stage of his career — and that would be a deal so good that we need to make sure we fit into our plans. Move who we need to move to keep him.

It only takes one team but I’ll believe it when i see it. Historically you don’t see a lot of #6/7 journeyman get a massive UFA deal after one good season unless their production skyrockets. Though it depends what each person’s definition of “huge” is, i guess.

He’s a 6’5” RHS defender who turns 28 July 12th and has posted exceptional defensive numbers this year. Granted he still has to keep it up but the cap is likely to go way up this off-season too.

Some team is going to think they found the next breakout candidate and give him something like 5 years by 4 million per.

I think the better question is whether he looks to cash in or if he looks to find a good deal on a contender.

Timo isn’t a goon so they might actually punish him.

It’s probably just in my head but I feel like goons get a lot more leeway from player safety than non-goons do. I think player safety knows the goons job is to be crazy, so they’re more forgiving of their craziness so as to not cost them their job.

Player safety also weirdly sometimes has players with less than sterling reputations involved in decision making, so I think they’ve seen the goons as kindred spirits at times.
