Allen basically posted another shutout last night. He has been given the easier starts/workload but it doesn't hurt that he is giving Markstrom some competition in goal.

Keefe just needs to play the better of the 2. Markstrom still has another level to his game that he hopefully will be able to find but right now Allen is the better choice in goal IMO.

Hischier has done what he typically does when Jack heats up. He's content to just stop the main line on the opponent. He's done that well the last few games. I'm sure he's also tired from having to carry the team around on his back for about 13 games. That takes a lot out of you. Now that Jack is rolling it would be nice to have that third line rolling also. Mercer scored one last night so maybe he is getting it going.

the guy who replaced novo at nj.com stinks out loud

Yeah I saw that but I also think fans need to relax getting on him, just don't follow him. If Novo does that, they're probably laughing at the joke with him. It's clear that dude is in the mold of the Abbey chick who was passive aggressive in her reporting than a Gulitti or Novo.

The fact that we can seemingly have a different hero on any given night will be invaluable in the playoffs. Take away Jack? It's a Nico game. Take away the centers? Timo will step up. Take away the transition game? Cotter and Noesen will forecheck you into oblivion. Taking away the forwards down low? Dougie and Luke will create from the point.

People loved Novo because he interacted with the fans and would ask the questions they wanted to hear, but I wasn't really a fan of his general shitposting on Twitter. Same with Nichols, same with whoever has now replaced Novo. It just screams amateur hour to me.

To Novo's credit, the content he would put out regularly for NJ.com was far better than anything many of the others would put out. I honestly just stick to following Amanda, Kristy and Mike Morreale on Twitter. Bill and Sal are good follows as well to at least provide some quality insight.

Yeah and the tough thing for most fans to grasp that if someone really good works for us, it's going to be time where they move onto a better job like Gulitti and Novo did. We're one of the most small market teams in pro sports, it's just the territory that comes with working here. There's tons of fan blogs that do a great job that fans can easily read. That Alex Chavauncy dude is one of my better follows on Twitter that's Devils related (not a promo btw lol)

Just from an eye test perspective, I feel more comfortable watching Allen out there right now than Markstrom. Not saying I think we should run with him right now, but he's been more consistent and I tense up way less when he faces a shot. A shame that Tampa stinker happened.
He also makes way better decisions when playing the puck.

Too many times Markstrom has made a cowboy move when playing the puck or playing it/touching it when it didn't need to be. One of those ''Big saves'' he made in the 3rd period of the Islanders game came after one of his touches went right to an Islanders player along the boards, which caused the Islanders to keep possession until he made that save.

Allen plays the puck a lot, but it's much less frightening and seems much more calm. I'm not afraid of him turning the puck over and it leading to a goal against, like I've been with Markstrom pretty much the entire year so far.

People liked Novo, because he visibly put in the work to try and get information and wasn’t state media. He was good at his job, which is why he got promoted to the Giants beat.

This. I don't care about the boring same old questions most reporters ask so it was refreshing to see someone try to shake it up and rattle some feathers. There is no media accountability here. I'm not saying we need to go to the extreme in terms of Toronto and we still don't have this but it would be nice if we had some real reporters who would ask Fitz and clown shoes Jake Reynolds about raising season ticket prices for a team that missed the playoffs and has been generally shit for over a decade now.

I don't even follow the NFL and I saw an article about the Jets raising ticket prices despite yet again being a shit team.

Typically agree, but weird flex after 1-0 shutout to the Sharks.

I think it was just made up for a Rolling Stone article about satanic names in sports from 2016.

I think it's only been a year or so since hockey reference added nicknames to player profiles.

And I did notice that Satan's Wallpaper was a nickname for Marty on his hockey reference page, but I had never heard him called that before reading that at some point in the last year.
