I sometimes wonder if some posters have seen good offensive players make moves before. (And not see Bahl either.)

The tag team move is fun.

I'm sure there will be a couple GMs out there interested in Zacha with the hope he will be their Elias Lindholm / Sam Bennett. Former top 10 pick who became a decent NHL player, showing occasional flashes of more, who finally turns it on with a change of scenery.
As a one year 3m x 1 trial -> UFA for sure. But no one is trading for him and extending him anything more than 2 years I don't think, and even that has downside risk for many teams. I just don't expect anything for him really, best case scenario is a similar change of scenery RFA that fits in here where Zacha doesn't, but he's simply got to go now, it's clear.

I don’t believe anybody is getting fired anytime soon. Ruff gets some runway next year with some reasonable goaltending.
The PP has had no chance with the players Fitzy has pencilled in to use. Last night was the worst. Three super small guys (Holtz, bratt and boq) esentially guaranteed we would never gain possession and get set up. Holtz basically stood at the dot the one time like he was Ovi as the puck went flying by behind him along the boards. Guess that worked in Utica

the flyers winning and us losing our last games does nothing for us, right? we’re pretty much locked into our spot?

Why even take a chance? Recchi is a tried-and-true failure as a power play coach, Nas can't get a transition game going that isn't "pass around on defense," and Ruff's system is partially responsible for the bad goaltending in terms of how many high-danger opportunities it gives up.

Is 6 foot super small for NHL forward? 192 pounds?

The Devils don’t get possession on the PP because their entry system is nonsense; not because of player size.

A good PP entry doesn’t even have the offense engaging with a defender. You have an extra guy, you should have space and time. The Devils don’t take advantage of that at all; they skate in with speed and then lay it off to a guy standing still or dump it in with nobody else moving to retrieve the puck. The defenders often have a manpower advantage where the puck is, which is silly for a PP.

Agree about the dump in thing. Dougie can figure out how to make that work. Which guy is 192 by the way? They play way smaller if that is true

People saying to give Smith a chance nrxt camp to see if he makes the starting roster . I can’t see it happening. If he doesn’t make the roster then what ? Have him rot in the AHL and his value plummets ? I’d say now would be the time to move him . Even if he does turn it around , his skill set is not really needed and we are better off with a D man that is better defensively.

Ruff will get fired 1 or 2 months into next year if he is still here which is why we must fire him now. We got no team structure & that falls on Ruff. Idk how you make excuses for our powerplay. If you need an entire unit of elite stars to make a PP work then thats even more proof of how horrible our PP is. A good PP will work without stars on the team. We can't just bank our PP on Hughes thats not how you do it. Theres no justification for bringing back this staff. I want to see the purge.

I don't think there's any way you can justify bringing Ruff back, let alone that comedy troop of assistant coaches under him. Yeah, he got a rough shake with the goaltending, but outside of a couple of individual players improving, the team hasn't taken that step forward. It's not all of his fault, but the coach falls on the sword sometimes.

I'm still pissed that Fitzgerald openly identified special teams as being something they *need* to improve on, and then just bringing back the same guy that couldn't set up a lemonade stand.

It’s true that we have no structure or identity . Mainly due to having a poorly constructed roster . It was made up by just piecing together a roster with whoever happened to have developed at this time . The entire third line has been a mixture of players who are not good enough for the top 6 on that particular time . We need to have a set roster idea and fine tune it for what identity and style of hockey we want to play .
The way it is constructed right now is the shits . Need a few guys that play a heavier game and are good defensively sound guys to shut down the other team . We get hemmed in our own zone for too many shifts in a row and lose momentum and eventually ends up with the other team scoring . Would be deadly to have a line that shuts down the other team and allows our top lines a chance to rest and then go on offence instead of defending . Just my two cents . We are currently constructed very poorly . We have skill now finally but not the right supplimentry players

You know what you are getting with Ruff and it isn't "structure," particularly on defense. They are on the right track player-wise but that's all the more reason to throw everyone to the curb and hire someone with a modicum of structure and discipline.

A lot of the playoff teams have very good structure and team identity . We don’t have that .
Hopefully Fitz straightens that out better this off-season . First thing at the very very least he needs to get rid of Recchi . I’m not sure about Ruff ( I think he should go but not sure if Fitz will fire him ) .

Loyalty to worthless coaching is a staple of this team post-Lou, so I'm not seeing any changes other than maybe, MAYBE, Recchi.

I’m not a fan of Ruff, but I do think Fitzgerald should hold off on firing Ruff unless he has a successor lined up.

If Boudreau doesn’t stay with Vancouver, that’s a solid option. Montgomery is an interesting option whenever the Blues season is done. I wouldn’t hate DeBoer who always gets regular season results. Might be couple other options after the season ends too.

What likely complicates things a bit is the Devils are almost certainly looking for experience. Usually that means antiquated coaches, which would not fit this team at all, so it limits the options even further.

Tonight could be Subbans last game for us. I don't think we got what anyone hoped for but I think he's been a good addition for us. By all accounts a good guy in the locker room and his defensively play has been serviceable. Without the price tag ppl would have way less complaints. I appreciated his time here. If he's open to signing an affordable deal I think it would be a decent move for third pairing unless they think Walsh is ready.

He is who he is at this point. He's far more valuable as a mentor and locker room guy than as a player, where he's fairly serviceable on the third line.
