Yeah. Traffic SUCKS. :thumbd:
Reason #1 why I moved from Calgary . Traffic adding 10+ hours to my work week … no thanks.
I can’t even imagine living in a city with worse traffic than what I have seen. Calgary is probably way better than major cities . I got sick and tired o having to leave at least an hour and a half before to go to a movie , out for supper , then wait in line forever.

At this point you have to treat it as a realistic contingency.

Teams are not gonna do a equal value swap. You might get some contenders looking to send back futures but that’s no good for us anymore.

So the obvious answer is a direct 1 for 1 with Montreal for Anderson.
Come on now … don’t be crazy…..

We would have to add ….according to Habs fans and even Habs management
Maybe Meier ( extended at 8x 6 mi) plus Bratt extended at same deal MIGHT be enough

That isnt necessarily true. You can get a hockey trade done involving Bratt or you can take a quantity-package, add to it, and turn and get an equivalent or better player.

Odds are slim on a hockey trade but its not impossible. Would take some deep thinking and serious negotiating to pull off though

Whats the deal with Sharangovich? healthy scratch moving forward or should he get back in the lineup soon?

Probably a healthy scratch for at least the next few games. Meier took his spot on the Hughes line, the third line is clicking with Boqvist in there, and he's not really a fit for the fourth line.

Once someone falters or if there's an injury, he should get a chance to rotate back in. But not yet.

What’s an example of a one for one ?
Is someone like Boldy too much or too little to expect for a return?

The lines are cooking so he won't get in until a line starts to look bad or someone gets hurt. Another issue is Lazar will get playing time too once his visa issues are worked out and might get back in the lineup before Sharangovich.

He's had a disappointing year earning the scratch, but bigger issue Boqvist is playing so well they can't take him out of the lineup.

If that's the case then Bratts guy needs to be canned, they shouldn't be doing that. That's what happened with Freddie Freeman and the Braves. He wanted to stay in Atlanta and his agent never told him the Braves made an offer.
Actually that Freeman story was proven fake and, if it was true, could have possibly lead to some legal action and even a termination of the contract he signed.

If Bratt is serious about signing then he needs to chime in and ask how things are coming along. Some players let the agent do all the work and just tell them a number theyd like and destinations preferred, some are hands on with the agent. I think its clear now Bratt isnt very hands-on

Also its possible he just want to get paid over everything else. We may find that hard to believe but who knows. What I do know is if Bratt ends up not being a Devils a year from now its because he didnt much care to stay here; theres zero chance he lets his agent walk him off the team just for more money, if he actually wanted to stay

off the top of my head idk any but the NHL since covid has become a Wild West of traded and I believe this level of activity is going to be consistent going forward with how the game is speeding up (and now the FA/trade markets). GMs are starting to realize how much talent can actually be acquired as RFA versus a decade ago

ok thanks. this is poor timing, in a 32 team league in the playoffs for 700$ lol could seriously use his help. he's locked on my roster for the week. and Id rather not replace him with Parker Kelly(who is also a healthy scratch lol) for next round if I win this week.

He’s lost his role at the moment with Boqvist playing really well. He won’t go in for anyone else barring injury.
trade bait for the summer then? my fingers are crossed he's back in for next week but either way best of luck Im slowing turning into a NJ fan as well by owning Hughes, Hischier, Bratt, Sharangovich, Schmid, Daws, few other prospects like Tyce Thompson in this 32 team dynasty league thing

I haven't lived in the NYC area in 20 years so I don't know what it's like now, but LA traffic was some king of unique beast.

IDK, he’ll probably get into the lineup at some point, but he’s feeling more and more like the odd man out. I wish they’d put him in for Wood but that will never happen.

I’ll be shocked if he isn’t traded in the off-season.

Definitely not a topic we want to think about , but what would Bratts value be if we were forced to trade him ?
I get it’s a very negative way to think if the situation and I don’t want to curse or jinx anything , but what would we be looking at for a return ? I would think we look for a direct replacement instead of draft picks ?
If this is a shitty thing to bring up , I’ll drop it .
I preface this by saying I would much prefer if Bratt just re-signed.

But if they are forced to move him, Fitz needs to find a way to get an impact forward back to replace him.

I wonder if there is a way to pull Ehlers from Winnipeg. Still 2 more years under contract at a very reasonable $6M AAV. He is IMO very underutilized in Winnipeg, despite consistently putting up very strong playdriving numbers. Kind of similar profile and playstyle as Bratt.

I don't really think a one-for-one type trade is available, unless WPG is willing to just pay Bratt whatever he wants. But maybe there is a way to parlay the assets from a Bratt trade into Ehlers.

I'm surprised San Jose didn't take him. Play him as a wing to Couture or Hertl and let him rack up some points, then trade him for draft picks.

I assumed that the Devils wanted to keep him because he was a PKer, but maybe not if they keep scratching him. Boqvist seems to be a better fit for a third line role.

Whether he comes back next year is up to his contract demands, but Top-6 priority should go to Holtz. I still think Rango wouldn't be bad to return for another year or two, but team should definitely trade him for assets before he's a UFA.

yeah unfortunately I have to trade him too, Bratt's contract coming in might be expensive and I extended Sharangovich so he starts a 3x3m contract next year for me. after my big upgrades Sorokin, Eriksson Ek and Aho. he feels like an oddman out for me too. but am a big fan of him

Many of us were surprised that he wasn't traded in the Meier deal. And if Bratt and Meier are both signed long term, Shara might be the odd man out going forward. Not enough cap or roster space to keep him.

Only two years of Ehler is a really bad return for Bratt Im thinking

Heck even Connor has a third year and that still stings to lose a top line player halfway through our contention window

so I assume that Blackwood will likely find a new home next season and Schmid will come in as a full time backup or maybe even starter? 1a1b type role? love what I see in him so far even though its tough for me to find NJ games living close to Toronto

I would imagine this will be the plan, yes.

I think Blackwood's time here is done. He just can't stay healthy, and is maddeningly inconsistent. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he never played another game in NJ tbh.
