I would like to see us stock back up on forward prospects in the next draft given 4 of our top 5 prospects are D. The current wave of Zetterlund, Thompson, Clarke, Foote, and Boqvist are all kind of reaching that point where you don't expect any more big leaps forward.

Gritsyuk>>Muk

If we don't end up trading our first though it should be a good opportunity to get a real good forward as long as they don't Stillman it...

I think you go BPA / highest on your board regardless of position. Casey is such a stellar pick because we went BPA. Zacha was a huge whiff in large part because we were defense-rich and offense-starved, so we didn't look hard enough at Provorov or Werenski.

Provorov's not good anyway and hasn't been for a few years now. Barzal was always the one to pick.

Provorov isn't having a good year (for multiple reasons), but he's been a solid 2nd pairing + defenseman his entire career, while the Devils drafted a low-effort low-event bottom-6 forward.

And yeah, Barzal woulda been great. Or Meier. Or Rantanen. Or Werenski. Or Connor. Or TK.

Going back to the top D prospects. I completely forgot Clarke exists. He's 100% in that top group and would round out the top 5

I think we might actually be #1 in Wheeler’s list. Who else is left? Buffalo and LA were the big ones, and they went. We should be ahead of Detroit and Columbus.

We didn’t graduate anyone, we were already ranked highly, and we added a #2 overall.

Also our second tier guys like Grits and Muk are having strong years, and we have out-of-nowhere strong years out of Clarke, Vilen, and Filmon.

It's us, Detroit, Minny, and Columbus. I'd probably go us, Minny, Detroit, Columbus. Of the teams left he had Minny at 3 last year and we were 4. Buffalo/LA were 1/2. Yeah 1 makes sense for Wheeler. EP had us 9th in theirs right before the season started. Makes sense why Wheeler would have us 1 with how high he was on Nemec while EP would have us 9th since they're lower on Luke and Nemec.

I think Gritsyuk is a little bit overrated around here, but I would put him just behind Mukhamadullin/Casey for that spot. Either way, you'll need guys to replace those I just mentioned in the call up brigade 2-4 years from now.

I agree with BPA in rounds 1 and 2. After that, I think the success rate and projection of these guys is low enough that you can take someone a little lower on an overall ranking to fill out organizational needs.

Not to mention, when you're drafting a guy you have to know everything about them and you can't possibly do that for every single draft eligible prospect. So teams mostly have a group of 10 or so they expect to go in each round that they really dial in on and just do due diligence on the others, so it's partially up to what positions do you focus on during the year and then a player that the public thinks is a reach might be highest on your list anyway at that point.

Before that draft, I really wanted us to find a way to trade down and pick Rantanen. I thought someone might have wanted that spot to choose one of the remaining D at that point. Oh well

With the Canucks and general Dick Tankcchet in town tomorrow night, we should be able to crush the shit out of them.

Hopefully there will be some Bruce there it is chants like there was on the road in Seattle lol.

I still expect our anchor of a 4th line (mostly due to too many Miles Wood) to get cratered and also to be stuck out there at some point with Pettersson and the two other good players on their roster.

At least Marino is (apparently) back.

I hope the week off helps Miles.

I think he's just toast.

Whether it's the injury or just that it isn't unusual for a player like him to be toast by 27-28.

It's still not a super large sample of games to say anything definitively, other than we'd be stupid to re-sign him, but beyond that it's probably a little early to declare he's done, just because I don't even write off goalies that have just one bad season before it becomes a trend.

But there's reason to believe that he's getting close to the end and his best days are definitely over.

And that's not even some huge proclamation, as many players best days are over by 27-28, even if they're still good players or play another 6-7 years.

I would also love to see some SIGNS in the crowd with "Bruce, there it is" written on them.
