This team was really rolling when the 4th line was playing at a high level. Wood is very much a part of that.

$4M with term just seems ludicrous for a guy that can only play in your bottom-six, isn't great defensively, and doesn't have special teams utility.

Bastian seems like the more important player and he won't get paid near that.

This is where people say we miss Bastian and it leads to people who don't know what they're talking about saying "lolz durr if Nathan Bastian is that important to your team then your team has an issue", no the guy is the only who consistently goes to the front of the net on this roster and you can't necessarily find that midseason to fix.

It's also something that's been said time and time again. We don't get anyone to the front of the net when we aren't scoring. If nobody is front, deflections are harder to come by.

It's also something that's been said time and time again. We don't get anyone to the front of the net when we aren't scoring. If nobody is front, deflections are harder to come by.

I scream at my TV every time we're on the powerplay and I see guys to the side of goalies as opposed to standing right in front. I understand Nico being shy after the whole Subban incident but no one else has an excuse. Mercer, Tatar, etc.

We score a ton off the rush and our PP has been mostly mediocre. Not a surprise tips represent a low % of our goals.

Fair. I don’t know what Pang was looking at: our rank of total tipped goals or our rank of % of tipped goals.

I’d hope it was the former as the latter is problematic - as you point out.

Also, it’s not clear if there’s a large or tight spread between teams. If everyone is bunched fairly close together, again not sure the stat is helpful.

So, yeah, the info without context isn’t super useful. But, I’d love to dig into it more if people know where to find the data.
