Best i could find, you sure it was him with that?

One from series vs. Philly, and the SCF.

He had a fuller beard most of the playoffs and then IIRC after we went down 3-0 to LA he shaved part of it off as like a changing their luck type move. I want to say Clarkson or somebody else did too.

I don’t think Kovy ever did anything close to Hall’s MVP season. People want to inflate the story but that was a team if there ever was one.
Yeah but you're comparing a team that was a boarding penalty and a few bounces from winning it all with Kovy in his worst physical shape to a team that had no business being in the playoffs with Hall at his best.. what Hall did was really fun but Kovy >>>>>>> hall.

The Yayos and Tedenby's who showed "something" year after year like they were on the cusp of breaking out while more and more people gave up on them only to be let go right before "breaking out" (claimed by a few, me being one of them,) and then go on somewhere else to show everyone that that was it. They showed and brought everything they had to offer right from the start, but because of their age, there seemingly was no where to go but up. But that was it, what you saw was what you got.

I get the comparison, and I don't have the stats but I feel like Boq showed a lot more a lot earlier than those two, especially his third season in SHL. I guess I'm mostly just disappointed we let him go for free and not getting anything back, feels like poor asset management. But I hope he gets plenty of ice time and does well. He's not the type of player that should be playing in bottom6 role, so in that sense Devils were a poor fit for him. But as an asset I felt like he was worth at least a 3rd rounder (especially with this cap hit) and we just gave him away.

If we aren't counting cups...

The win streak to end the season in 05/06 and win the division then sweep the Rangers in the first round...

Then the crazy run in 10/11 when Kovy put the team on his back and they almost made the playoffs after starting something like 10-29-2.

The 13 game win streak this past season...

Some of the most fun times I've ever had as a fan.

This season was great, but the season where they went 22–3–2 with Kovy playing out of his mind and Parise watching from the stands was insane.

I'm sorrier about having let him go at all than about having not got anything back. I think the kid has a bright future and was breaking out in the second half of last season. Ten goals and 12 assists isn't nothing and was already far beyond the Josefson class of production.

That Boston of all teams signed him is quite a complement to his talent. It's a good place for him to land. They needed to add skating and speed and they will give him a good look.

I agree with you on his value, and losing him for nothing is annoying. i think Fitz ultimately did him a favor though.

also, watch him score 50 points on a line with Zacha lol

Look, I like Boqvist more than most but we weren't getting anything of consequence back for him in a trade. If you look around the league at players who get traded straight up for draft picks, there are players who have done far more than Boqvist who move for late round picks at best.

And with him being an RFA with arbitration rights, it was strategic to not qualify him and let him go to unrestricted free agency. I do think the team liked him and likely wanted him back, but it'd have to be on their terms. And it wouldn't shock me if he believed he had a better chance to get an opportunity at a more consistent role elsewhere not that the wings are log jammed here.

It is what it is, but he was never going to make it above the 3rd line here outside of injuries with Bratt, Meier, Mercer, Toffoli, Palat and even Haula as wing options with guys like Holtz and Foote knocking on the door, as well.

He signed for the league minimum for one year after being available for a couple of weeks. It’s hard to fault NJ for not getting anything in a trade for him. No team believes in him including the Bruins.

Ok maybe I'm overrating Boqvist and/or evaluating him more based on his "potential" and not what he is. His previous (21-22) 0.4ppg season also affects my judgement. Weird that a 0.4ppg as a 23 year old, with excellent skating, isn't worth anything.

I think the UFA contract shows that to be the case. I agree with you, you'd think a team that has an aging roster and maybe little prospect depth would have wanted him for a fourth or fifth rounder but it just didn't happen. I think the Zadina example is similar on some level? Another young player with some potential that just fell through the cracks.

I think spending so much of the past decade starved for literally any young player with a pulse has jaded us to how common a player like Boqvist is. His best case scenario is essentially solid 2-way middle six winger and he still needs to take a step or two to get there. I'm just not convinced the league values this type of player the way fans do.
