For everyone who was so adamant it’s a concussion. Definitely looked more like a separated shoulder.

A guy with a separated shoulder would normally skate off with that shoulder lower than the other and be holding it. The players normally act and look lopsided after a separated shoulder, not skate off and equally use his shoulders when he bent over and put his hands on his knees.

Also, if the shoulder was separated then it’s unlikely Hughes would feel like he could give it a go on another shift.

Unless it’s some sort of mild instead of major shoulder separation. Is that a thing?

We still have plenty of talent without them in the lineup. The team just needs to come together even more in their absence and show we wre a good team and don't have to rely on 2 players. We played some of our best games without Nico too. He only has 2 goals and 0 assist in 7 games. Mercer , Hischier and Palat need to step up on offense. Especially Mercer. They are dragging the team a bit even though we have a decent record 10 games into the season.
Do you have the memory of a goldfish? Nico had 80 points last year. So we played two better games against the Wild and you are already heaping crap all over him.

There are degrees of severity of an AC joint sprain, which may be what they needed the additional evaluation time for.

I wouldn’t look too much into his positioning when he was bending over, there are NFL quarterbacks who have played full games with a separated shoulder.

But when people say “separated shoulder” they’re thinking out for months and possible surgery needed.

If we are talking a separated shoulder that needs a few days to weeks to rest, then that’s not what people are thinking when they say “separated shoulder”

I think, from a sports perspective, we would think of that as a shoulder sprain, even if medically there is no difference in the term.

A separated shoulder can absolutely take months to recover from. Depends on the severity.

If he had a severely separated shoulder then I would expect him to have shown physical signs of injury, the slumping shoulder.

We’ve all see it when a guy suffers a bad separated shoulder.

I’m not saying it’s impossible to be severe and not slump, but they seem to normally go together so if you were going to bet, I would think you would want to have seen that.

I was thinking more of his head/neck but after seeing this angle I remember I once tore the labrum in my shoulder after getting tripped and going into the boards at an angle very similar to this and putting my arm out to brace just like he did. It hurt like hell and they wanted to do surgery but I rehabbed it instead. It makes crunchy noises now when I rotate my arm in a circle.

Hell we saw him when he last hurt his shoulder. It was really obvious.

But who knows.

It could also be multiple things

Bro lives to shit on twitter sports doctors.

Chao is very solid regardless of his Chargers controversies which have zero to do with the ability to analyze injuries over video.
