As most of the posters on here will tell you, I'm probably more skeptical of Jack Hughes' game than most. But in this instance I'll defend him.

Nobody saw more ice time than he did in the Capitals game and against Minnesota not only did he compete in all three zones but he blocked a shot late in the game (in fact, that shot may have done some damage and contributed to him taking a maintenance day).
guess i dont have to watch tomorrow - if Jack had a good game against Minnesota then odds are we won!

;)

Found this (this is NOT my work)

This might be a bit mean but accurate :

I'm sure Mercer will get it together, though.

My biggest concern, this might be two concussions for Nico in a 2 week span.

They haven’t released much info on ether injury situation but both were around the head and next.
while i am glad we take concussions and mental health more seriously nowadays..

not every hit to the head or neck is a concussion!!

its best to try and remain positive until told otherwise!

Oh wow, I wonder how many more years/games it will take for him to pass Kovalchuk on an all time greatest Devils list?

Kovalchuk is definitely much higher than Jack Hughes (and probably everybody) on the most overrated Devil of all time list.
The playoff run kovy had prob factors into a lot of peoples rankings and that was the last time the devils had a serious run

I’ll give it one more year

Hughes is going to pass parise and crack the top 10 in franchise scoring probably as soon as next year

Before his 25th birthday

Jack Hughes has been involved in 18 of the devils 29 goals. 62%. That is absurd. For context, McDavid is typically involved in ~40% of Edmonton’s goals. Taylor Hall in his MVP season was in on 38% of the team’s goals.

I understand a couple of other guys have had strong starts to the season as well, but Jack is absolutely carrying this team on his back. Especially when you consider how they are winning these games by outscoring their mediocre D and goaltending.

Is this team going to keep putting up with this shit or is someone going to man up and take out the next f***er who hits one of our guys in the head. This is getting out of hand. Enough already.

What are they going to do? The nhl supports this kind of behavior. Whoever stands up for Nico prob will get suspended for the year for retaliation.

And then you compare the 2 rosters and NJ's is much better ainec.

“Unfortunately, Ruff disclosed after the Devils’ 4-3 victory that there’s no plan right now for Foote to draw in. In fact, Ruff defended Smith who was actually on the positive side of a 15-13 chance differential.

“You only remember the ones that go in the net,” Ruff began to explain. “(Smith) got on the wrong side of his player and ended up getting scored against. There’s probably 15 other chances inside the game that if we want to point to chances or the third goal of the game that they got, I can give you two or three individuals that need to be better on that play. Every one of those opportunities, the ones that don’t go in, nobody usually brings up. The one that does go in, you go ‘hmm, I don’t know what did you think of so-and-so on that play? Yeah, he didn’t play it very well. We’d love to have that play back. However, I thought his energy and intensity in the game, and some of his killing was real good. The play on that goal, it wasn’t good enough.”

Who and what Ruff defends or attacks in the post game is just bizarre sometimes.

What's it going to take for Lindy to criticize this bum?

Maybe Brendan DOES have compromising pictures of Lindy and a goat after all....

I mean tbh that's a pretty good statement about people forgetting other bad plays because it didn't end up in the back of the net but yeah it's pretty funny which players get qualifiers and which don't but it's probably similar with most coaches in the NHL (young player vs vet play) lol

I also think Smith is better than Cal Foote atm if I had a choice it'd be Nemec replacing Smith in the lineup but I kinda doubt that Foote would be the better option over Smith.

I mean, he's a third pairing/depth guy. Throwing him under the bus, even if he deserves it, isn't likely to accomplish much. I don't think putting Foote in for him is going to make much difference, outside of making us feel better because Smith got punished.

As much I want Smith to come out of the lineup, Cal Foote is absolutely atrocious. Only three people kicking out Smith out of the lineup are Colin Miller, Nemec, Hatakka. I'm pretty sure Hatakka is injured after he had a sick preseason and went back to Utica.

Saw this the other day, the two most dynamic Devils forwards in my life. Devils fans who missed out on these 2 guys in the future are gonna be kicking themselves that they missed their primes here.
