I will give Spaulding this: When Haula is on the Hughes line, it probably is our second line.

His third liner-ness balances out Hughes's first liner-ness and it averages out to second line. That's just math.

Zacha contract looks better than Palat at this point

Palat and Haula were always gonna be in a rough spot if they were gonna be expected to be key offensive contributors this year. Both are complimentary scorers (at best) coming from veteran, responsible teams with lots of chemistry going to a young team with a LOT to learn and very little chemistry. And then Palat gets injured a few weeks into the season.

It took Tatar a season to settle in as well. Palat will be fine, he's more important as a calm presence who'll hopefully be a middle-6 forward supplanted by Holtz or someone else next season.
