But then at the point, you take that trade off. If a team is actually stupid enough to waste a skater spot on a guy trying to possible run our stars then it's just gonna make the game easier for us. Schmid is honestly dialed in and I prefer Daws. If both of them can be serviceable goalies in the future, we're in good shape.

How cool would that be? 2 guys playing together in the A, only to play in the same tandem in the show.

Some of it also has to do with older fans who grew up on that too, grinders/tough guys are solely being phased out with how the emphasis of being a good skater today is. It's why the Tkachuks are looked at as unicorns because those guys can play hockey + providing that. Hell even a guy like Miles Wood is insanely valuable in today's NHL.

Schmid looks a lot better positionally than he did last year. I think I'd prefer him long term but we obviously haven't seen Daws since last year either in regular season action.
