We basically have 3 shooting threats on the PP1

1) Dougie
2) Nico
3) Jack

With Bratt as a possibilty but he hasn't been on the money much the last two seasons but he is still there for the cross ice slapper. But primarily they are either covering Dougie, or Nico bumper slot or Dougie and Jack. One or two of those three will be free for a shot attempt if things are going well.

And a upper tier front net guy (maybe not the best in league but pretty damm good, the best guy we've had in a looong time)..

Seems pretty magical so far.

PP2 started off bad the same way PP2 was last season but over the last stretch of games they are setting up shop as well. Mercer/Meier have improved their half wall play.

Nothing but good things to say for PP1. Been awesome so far.

It’s unbelievably good and impossible to game plan for. Too many options, too much movement, too unpredictable. You can’t stop them when they’re cooking and they’re cooking often. Either your goalie is making the stops or we have a rare off PP

I don’t think PP2 started bad really. Very early on the in year I actually thought PP2 was better than PP1 then PP1 started going. PP2 did go through a lull there for a bit but they also barely ever hit the ice so I find it hard to get on them lol

Well shucks, it cant improve to be past top-1! Guess Meier will have to wait his turn...

And, besides sunken costs, did we maybe we jump the gun getting Timo? He might not be able to earn his contract without top powerplay time

Oh well! I still love having him (I bet Nico does too!) and Im sure we can make the cap work. Luckily I dont have to figure that stuff out lol

When Hamilton moves the puck to Bratt or Jack, either of those guys often rotates back up high and Dougie swaps places past them to the side - this operates as a de facto pick on the defender who gets rubbed off as the two players offensive guys pass each other - the defender retreats mostly or opens a shooting lane . . . It’s very like a basketball play where the guard and forward circle past each other and hand the ball off along the perimeter opening up a jump shot or a pass to the key.

We saw a good deal of this from Edmonton during the playoffs last year with McDavid circling and the play used to rub off his coverage. We are refining and varying that.

Colliton deserves credit so far on the special teams here.

I don't think we've really seen a fully healthy Timo for more than like 15 games since contract. Don't forget how awesome Timo was to end the season and he was nursing injuries which led to after season surgery
