I'd certainly take him in the lineup over like Acciari or Nieto any day. At least Glass has some chance of making a skilled play with the puck.

I still think he has some value. But playing him 23 minutes a game is ludicrous. He’s not a first pairing guy anymore. I bet if the coach wasn’t delusional and only played him 16-18 minutes a game, we’d complain about him far less.

Sure, one thing that can happen to them. They can have personal problems, or they can not develop for a multitude of reasons.

My larger point isn't that you shouldn't take chances on 18 year old kids like Glass, but simply that drafting is only the very beginning of the rebuild, and really, a player like Misa or Martone could easily end up busting just as badly IF things break the wrong way.

Or maybe this is all he'll ever be. There's a long list of Cal O'Reillys in the annals of hockey history.

Yeah, this is also quite true. And a lot of them are 1st rounders.

I was yelling at my TV "Please no OT, please no OT"... and of course there was an OT and once again the Pens came agonizingly close in it and then even scored some shootout goals for a change only to lose in end. Very good effort against a very good team that recently has made us look like clowns so many times but it also makes you wonder where that effort was against teams like the Ducks and the Sharks.

At this point SId might as well try to score with a slapshot in the shootouts. Or a spin-o-rama or a shot between the legs, or something. I would be sad to see Rakell go but at the same time, he deserves a shot at the Cup and his price probably won't ever be higher, so a trade makes sense on multiple levels.
