Got to say :

That Cotter goal was in and out faster than an eaten Gas Station burrito.

When he shot it, I thought it hit the crossbar or went wide so when the goal-call was made, I was like "Wait....it went in? really??"

Overall, great road win for the Devils.

Bratt and Jack continue to be RIDICULOUS (and Palat has surprisingly been effective with them).

Nico being Selke Nico is the Best Nico.

Timo scored which is always good (hopefully that gets him going offensively).

And Markstrom with a stellar game between the pipes.

Now we have a day off and then we get right back to it against them again.

And guess what, @Bleedred ?

You get to do another GDT! Isn't that nice? :sarcasm::sarcasm::sarcasm:

We employ a certain style of play in the 3rd when we’re leading.

I’m not sure how happy I’d be with that in a playoff game, but let’s just get to the playoffs before we worry about that.

The Seigenthaler Kovacevic pairing seems to be left with the heavy lifting.

It’s almost like a certain kind of a trap of some sort. It worked well tonight, outside of a few close calls when guys were tripping all over the place in that end.

I’m sure the other end of the ice wasn’t much better, but I wasn’t sitting there to get such an up close look of that.

I’m going to get off my ass and actually go Thursday (of course with my luck that will be a loss).
It’s probably a pain to get here on a weekday from Miami, unless you can leave fairly early.

I normally wait for it to clear out before leaving for the night. It’s fairly clear now because the building really emptied out after the 4-1 empty net Palat goal.

Luke-Pesce seem equipped to handle some of that lifting as well if needed.

Pretty sure we are undefeated when leading after 2 so whatever they are doing it's working so far

Markstrom was also key tonight and made a series of extremely tough saves throughout the game. Verhaege on the 5 on 3, a couple of other tough looks in the first, a highway robbery job on a shot that would have tied the game late before Cotter extended it for us.

You kind of take goaltending for granted once you start getting it regularly but he and Allen have been backstopping us so well during this last 4 out of 5 stretch. Ever since we went out west actually.

What a difference from last year.

Btw, 8 games in a row giving up 3 goals or less.

Part of me is still a bit worried with the low event style but it's working tremendously right now especially since the goalies are up to the task. The downside is you get a Sharks type of game every once in a while but this will help them in the playoffs big time because you're not running aimlessly in your zone. Also they're basically doing this with 3 forward lines as well.

MacDermid wouldn't do anything, lmao. Dowling almost got maimed tonight and he didn't even go after the guy. Having goons don't stop other teams from doing dumb shit, it's the biggest hockey fandom myth out there.
The broadcast said he was looking for the guy after thr hit. Thr problem with MacDemeid is he has a code about fighting. He is happy to just play a shift without incident and he really only fights other super heavyweights and he doesn’t go after smaller players who take liberties with NJ players. But his presence will deter the frauds. A guy like Tkachuck is not going to act up at the end of thr game when MacDemid is there. Some guys won’t which is why there is not really deterrence with a goon but at least some guys will restrain themselves

Yeah I mean, I had to preface it by saying it was smart that MacDermid didn't go after him since it was 2-1 at the time and a bad penalty + PP and Florida could've tied it. But the idea that teams don't go after guys regardless who's on the bench is a lie, you need guys who can legit play the sport as well which is why I would've loved Tom Wilson on this roster the year we got Timo cause he'd be the perfect piece besides a Oliver Bjorkstrand next to Jack/Bratt.

I still think this will sort itself out once they get a little rest time and some practices.

Ya, I'm one of the more negative ones (I try to give them a ton of credit like tonight but sports PTSD has my ass kicked  ) here but I do think that'll help a ton. It'll also help when other teams they're playing are more tired due to the games in hand and they can catch teams on the schedule that way.
