Oh yeah, I meant to register a complaint - when Forsling took the penalty on Hischier, Noesen hit Boqvist at the whistle and Ekblad skated over to rough him up and they both took roughing minors. It is complete bullshit that this sort of thing is tolerated - that Ekblad was never going to take a 2nd minor that resulted in a 5 on 3 - but it's bigger bullshit that this moves the faceoff outside the zone. There's no way that that should be the result of a play like that.

Looking at the replay again, I don't think whatever happened to Nico is serious. While he looked like he was protecting his arm, he was laughing too.

I will say this much. I’ve never really been hassled by a Panthers fan when coming to their games. Everyone is nice, everyone is either friendly or just stays to themselves. The ushers and people who work the gates have sometimes very playfully ribbed me and told me I wasn’t allowed in the building wearing Devils gear. But it’s all in good fun and sometimes I even wind up having some nice conversations with those people.

The only semi-nasty or semi-hostile thing said to me came a few minutes ago by a girl walking out of Target where I park. She was with another girl wearing an old school Panthers logo shirt or jersey. This was a very young girl who almost assuredly was not yet born in 2003 when we last won the cup. Or she was an infant.

She said quietly “imagine being a Devils fan?” Which made me laugh. I gave her a smirk but she had walked past me and couldn’t see it.

We haven’t won the cup in her lifetime, but we’ve won 3 in my lifetime. So yeah, the Panthers have won more cups and even have been the to the finals more times in her lifetime than the Devils have.
