Proposal: Devils need a goal scorer.

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Don't know and don't care to read the whole thread so if I'm out of touch here, you know why.

Tarasenko and Kane who both can score goals can be had for cheap because of them having a bad season in Detroit. If it's goal scoring depth and vets Devils are looking for. Draft picks are enough. If Devils needs to part with something to make it work roster/cap wise I'm sure something can be worked out with that as well.

I think the Devils are trying to improve on Haula and Mercer as potential 3C options. Someone like Brock Nelson makes a lot of sense. So does ROR and even a Nico Sturm type - who's more a 4c. But Nelson or ROR going into the playoffs as a 3C but someone who can play up with Jack/Jesper if need be, would be quite useful. Beyond that, and any other cap space, I'm not sure how we can afford more than one.

Nelson could potentially play 2C in a pinch. He might be the best fit. The Palms connection to NJ has got to count for a thought back to Devs. But I agree I don't see both. Only way it happens is they wait until the TDL with accrual. And again, I don't get how they accrue roughly $5M

we currently have a 20 man roster to accrue space over the holidays. Players will be called up. Ideally you'd want to save space for luke's ELC bonuses.

I would absolutely do this trade if we could get the cap to work. It might be tight though.

not sure any teams in the league would be able to compete with Hischier/Hughes/Nelson down the middle in the playoffs.

The Haula part hurts. I'd rather send Bastian. He's redundant now that we have Kotter etc. As I then say to add Mathieu Oliveri from CBJ!

A better target, which would require a new contract, could be Brock Boeser.

That dude scores goals. He isn't much of a skater, but as a R shot and a heck of a good shot... on a PP with Jake Hughes moving the puck around, Boeser would get some really good looks at goal.

He's an American and after playing his entire career in Canada, I have doubts he'll resign there.

Nelson is obviously a better C no doubt. I just like Haua I guess. There were no expectations when he was moved for Zacha. Expected him to leave in FA. Kotter-Nelson-Mercer would be a nice line, but Noeson would bump down with Nelson in the lineup, I think (Brock is not havin a good year, but it's a team thing). I'd still just bump Haula down and jettison Bastian
