Canes I think close this out tonight, IMO

Most likely if you ask me. I'll be interested to see if Andersen makes it back or if the Canes go with Kochetkov. I don't think it really matters for their chances to close out the series tonight though.

Also, we're about due for a 3OT (or longer) game... this could be the one.

True no long OT games so far in any series which is bit odd.

This series is the only one that has so far resulted in a game requiring more than a single overtime period, but it only went to a second. That's why I think this one might be one to go the distance. The Devils are playing for their playoff lives, and the Canes might be a little cautious since they have three consecutive opportunities to knock out their opponent.

With all that said, my prediction for tonight's game (that will probably end up not happening considering how wrong my hockey takes normally are) is that the Devils win 2-1 in 3OT. However, then Carolina blows them out in game 6 by a score of about 4-0 in order to march on.

This would have been fun with Jack Hughes - but without him, NJ never had a chance in these playoffs. I think this probably ends tonight.

Martin call up probably already confirms it
Dang. Tokarski has been better in the NHL this year than Spencer Martin.

Amazingly, Dustin Tokarski has the best save percentage of all Carolina's goalies in the NHL 2024-2025 season at 0.902.

Tokarski - 0.902
Andersen - 0.899
Kochetkov - 0.898
Perets - 0.857
Martin - 0.846

Not a banner year for Canes goaltending.

Some props have to be shown the Canes for how good they were in the regular season with that goaltending. Granted, it's probably one Rod's weaker teams down there in a few years but some teams would use it as an excuse not to make the playoffs or something else. Speaks to how much buy in Brindamour has from the group down there in Carolina
