Personally I found the depressing rosters of the late Lou era when you knew the team wasn't going anywhere and the future looked bleak way less fun to watch than one with some really damn good players just entering their primes that (with the right management) should be contenders for years.

This team also never gave up this series which automatically should earn them a few extra points compared to some underachieving years

I don't get the "unlikeable" thing personally. Is this team frustrating as hell at times? Absolutely. But if you can't find any enjoyment in seeing Nico score 35 goals or Bratt flirt with 90 points, or seeing a kid like Nemo struggle to then find success in the playoffs, then that sounds more like a "you" problem.

I don't find them "unlikeable" but this is the least "enjoyable" playoff season for me for as long as I've been a fan and a season ticket holder.

Never thought they had a legit shot to win no matter how much I tried to be positive. The season was so good until December. 2025 has been horrid and we went from that super high in December to just being glad they made the playoffs, had one fun win and didn't get swept.

After this series I almost think it’s more of a priority to move Hamilton than Palat. I kinda love now Ondrej played. We have plenty of D and I want Dumo back.

I think this is the we got eliminated hot takes, at least for some. I usually bounce from lurking after this and come back when things have cooled down.

I got to 20-25 games this season and renewed my seasons. I enjoy going to (most) of the games. At some point I accepted this was just a star crossed season, especially with the inexplicable amount of injuries.

But I'm not going to sit here and say the devils ruined the last few months for me. Heck, the 2OT win in Game 3 stays a good memory even after this (I didn't expect we were winning the series at any point; it gave me a highlight).

Tired of getting humiliated by the same franchise over and over again. 2006 they ruined the 15 game win streak, 2009 is 2009, 2 years ago I understand because it was everyones first time, but for God sake, can we learn how to play against them because we'll be seeing a lot of them if we want to compete going forward.

I thought Palat played as well as you could expect given where he is in his career.

I want to cut Dougie slack because he came back from injury early, but man im struggling to do it. He was way too ineffective.

TBH I have no faith we beat them in a close series even if we had a few more guys in the lineup...these pricks get off on trolling us. We're gonna have to come up against them in a year where we're clearly better and just pump them to finally beat them, a la 2006 against the Rangers.

I’m on board with Casey as trade bait. They clearly don’t trust him, I mean you had Dumo playing over 37 minutes. The d was gassed cause the couldn’t play Casey. Might as well cash in and dump him for forward help.

I think it is until it isn’t. Hopefully we have a 2022-2023 season. Luke has taken some big hits and came out of it ok. Hopefully the summer does wonders.

Only reason I'd hate getting rid of Casey is where are you getting the offense from the blueline once the ghost of Dougie's gone? There's Luke and maybe Nemec develops something of an offensive game? Then it's a bunch of solid pluggers beyond that.

Obviously he's not part of the near-term plan though.

The Devils probably win this series with health, people can scoff at it but take out Aho + Slavin/Chatfield/Walker from Carolina with a straight face v a healthy Devils team. That's what we're talking about

They'll make the playoffs walking in if health doesn't get to them, everyone is mediocre to bad besides the Canes. No one knows if this Capitals team is sustainable either.
