as much as i cheered for this, i still feel bad and i like him as a person. seasons lost anyway, it feels like a mercy firing because the fans will be restless tomorrow
That meeting for him was probably more like the end of Donnie Brasco.
damn, I guess the organization knew more than a guy on HFboards who said last night we couldn't criticize an NHL head coach because he had 800 wins or whatever the f***
who knew?!
I thank Ruff for being an amazing human being, professional and helping our kids develop their games. Good luck Lindy!
My only complaint is why didn't Rogalski go with him? He needed to be fired in December or January at the latest. It's a joke that he survived Ruff.
I still expect he'll be GANKED at season's end, but he's actively poisoning the goaltending position here.
Basically this…can’t even celebrate because A) it’s too little, too late and B) I can’t celebrate a man’s career basically ending even if it’s clearly for the greater good at this pointOld yellered his ass
Season is lost. Has been since the Washington and Tampa losses.as much as i cheered for this, i still feel bad and i like him as a person. seasons lost anyway, it feels like a mercy firing because the fans will be restless tomorrow
I've been saying have Marty or Clemmer interim the remainder of the season. Then go hire a permanent replacement in the offseason.Probably not a ton of goalie coaches on standby mid-season.
Yea he will be dumped along with Green and the rest of the crew in the summer. My only complaint is why didn't Rogalski go with him? He needed to be fired in December or January at the latest. It's a joke that he survived Ruff.

To be fair how many goalie coaches get fired in season? My only complaint is why didn't Rogalski go with him? He needed to be fired in December or January at the latest. It's a joke that he survived Ruff.

“I hold our entire organization to the highest levels of accountability to focus on being a competitive team that expects to be a perennial playoff contender,” said Fitzgerald. “Unfortunately, we are not currently at that level, and I needed to make this decision.
“This was an extremely difficult conversation to have with Lindy based on the relationship that he and I have. He was the right coach to develop our young players on the ice, and above all else, he is a tremendous person.
“Travis has key experience running benches at the junior, AHL and NHL levels and knows that there are no shortcuts to success. He is a high-demanding individual who is familiar with the group and excited about working to get us back on track.”
Notice he emphasized on “develop”.
